We recently connected with Ricky Codio and have shared our conversation below.
Ricky, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, I believe it takes a combination of passion, perseverance, and adaptability.
I’ve found that success stems from a deep-rooted passion for what you do. When you’re truly passionate about your work, you’re willing to put in the long hours and overcome obstacles with determination and resilience.
For me, this passion was evident in my journey from starting photography in my mom’s garage to securing my own studio space. Along the way, there were moments of doubt and setbacks, but my unwavering passion kept me going.
Additionally, success requires perseverance. It’s about staying committed to your goals even when faced with challenges or setbacks. One particular instance that stands out to me is when I faced rejection from potential clients early in my career. Instead of being discouraged, I used those experiences as learning opportunities to improve my craft and refine my approach.
Lastly, adaptability is key in an ever-evolving world. Being open to change and willing to embrace new opportunities or technologies can propel you forward. I’ve learned to adapt my photography style and business strategies to meet the evolving needs of my clients and industry trends.
In essence, success is not just about reaching a destination but about the journey itself—the ups, the downs, and the lessons learned along the way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello everyone! My name is Ricky Codio, and I’m a Haitian-American visual artist and entrepreneur. I am the owner and operator of the Mannequin Factory (MQFactory), a creative production studio based in Philadelphia, PA. Excited to share my journey with you!
I stumbled into the world of photography quite unexpectedly. I didn’t plan on becoming a photographer; it sort of found me by accident. I’ve always been into screenwriting and theater but ended up with a camera in hand one day, and the rest is history!
Today, I specialize in creative and wedding photography. My work revolves around capturing authentic moments and emotions, whether it’s through portraits, events, or conceptual projects.
I’m all about storytelling through my work. I believe art can spark change and positivity, and that’s what I strive for in every project.
I don’t just take photos; I strive to capture moments that hold deep meaning and genuine emotion. Whether it’s preserving the magic of a wedding day or crafting captivating visual stories for brands, my aim is to create images that resonate long after the moment has passed, stirring genuine feelings within those who view them.
One of my proudest moments? Securing an 8000 sq ft studio space in 2022. It’s more than just a workplace; it’s a place where creativity comes to life and we take things to another level.
Ultimately, what I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know about me and my brand is that I’m deeply passionate about what I do. I pour my heart and soul into every project, and I’m committed to creating work that inspires. Whether you’re seeking a wedding photographer or a creative collaborator for your next project, I’m here to make your vision a reality—and I’m not limited by location. I’ve traveled far and wide, from Japan to Europe, Jamaica, and beyond, both within and outside the USA. So, don’t hesitate to reach out, no matter where you are!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is the ability to connect with others through my work. Knowing that something I’ve created can inspire someone else is incredibly fulfilling. It’s a way of leaving a positive impact on others and connecting with them on a deeper level.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My reputation in the market has been built on a few key things. First, consistently delivering high-quality work. Second, building strong relationships with clients. Third, staying engaged with my community and showcasing my work. Lastly, my commitment to taking things to the next level drives me to continuously improve my skills.
