We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ricky Caleb a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ricky, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
In 2010, KDM Productions allowed me the opportunity to showcase my talent at The 2nd Annual Down Town Shut Down Event in the US Virgin Islands (St. Croix). That event ignited the flame to the path of my musical career.
Ricky, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Ricky Caleb Jr, professionally known as Troopah Live, was born in the United States Virgin Islands on the island of St. Croix on December 11, 1990. Due to his musical upbringing, he
always had a passion for music. He was truly inspired by his father who strongly impacted
his musical career at an early age. He enjoys moving the crowd with his diverse selection
and knowledge of music. Ricky *Troopah Live” Caleb is an Army Veteran currently pursuing
his DJ career and furthering his musical education in Audio Production at Full Sail
University. He also aspires to become a successful Producer.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My first time performing for a large crowd was my initial premier as a Disc Jockey in 2010. I was filled with a lot of different emotions, excitement, anxiety, nervous; but above all I encouraged myself to put my best performance out. Your first impression is a lasting Impression and I was determined to have everyone at that event remember my name.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative to me is being able to inspire others in a positive way, to try something new. By witnessing my level of professionalism and growth, seeing an idea brought to life and people enjoying said idea is amazing for me.
