We were lucky to catch up with Ricky Anderson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ricky, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Yes, I take and love vacations. Traveling is one of my favorite things to enjoy in this life we live. I view vacations as an opportunity to see the world, enjoy new experiences, relax, and take a break from my normal routines. Breaks are necessary to recharge, self reflect, muster and renew energy, so that you are whole mentally, physically and spiritually.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ricky Anderson, I have had some intriguing, and some forgettable endeavors through this journey of life. At my core, I am family oriented, sarcastic, humble, even keeled (most of the time), well rounded professionally and in personal skill/talents. I have many hobbies such as gaming, working out, reading, learning new skills, and binging shows, but my passions are working with our youth, family, and design. The latter of the three is the small seed that eventually lead me to creating a lifestyle brand called The Lucid One. After figuring out the name for our brand, I began to take care of the process to make us official. I honestly couldn’t stop thinking about building a noteworthy brand, so I began to brainstorm and figure out how to bring our thoughts to reality. These thoughts, dreams and ideas started to become logos that landed on all sorts of garments early on, from shades to leggings. This before we had any direction and having a brand was merely exciting. Now, we offer a sporty street wear brand fit for international desire. We offer multiple hat styles, t-shirts, hoodies, crew necks, letterman jackets, jerseys (upon request), shorts, women’s legging sets, and community events.
We set ourselves apart from others by provided safe spaces for our community members to congregate, learn, display their talents, coaching, training, and a brand with clothing that represent who and what they want to be in their life. We introduce clothing with meaningful logos, sayings, and designs. The main difference is our brand is a confidence boost for your ego. You get to move around with confidence based off of the look, but most importantly from the messages on our clothing and what they mean from your perspective.
I’d love for our potential clients, following and fans to know that our brand is something we adore, hold dear to our hearts and treat it with care! This isn’t a way to make money for us, this is a passion of ours. We enjoy creating, and sharing our ideas with the masses. Making money in the process is a bonus. With our brand we have been able to render others services, play them for their time and effort, host community events, and add to the ever evolving economy. I am most proud of the relationships, and community works we have conducted and accomplished to date.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Early on in our journey as a brand we used to stage our clothing in a family members garage. One winter day, I purchased a large order of beanies. This was actually our first order of beanies and I left them in my car over night thinking I would take them to the garage the next day after getting home pretty late. Well, it was my lucky night, because my passenger side window was busted and all of the hats were stolen that night causing us to lose all of that inventory and the money used to purchase the items. This was frustrating, but not as bad as our entire stock being depleted from a break-in months later at the storage garage. They took everything except for the shelves. Starting from rock bottom without a flux of revenue was almost the beginning of the end. We even took a nice four to six month break before jumping back into the game. At the end of the day passion is a burning desire, so while being idle about moving forward it was difficult to sleep, because my mind wouldn’t rest knowing I had business to take care of.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
There was a major pivot needed in my life when my then fiancé and now wife got pregnant with our son. I decided to join the Military to work on providing a better life for us. This pivot ultimately provided the means for me to accomplish all of my goals in order to secure my family’s future. Our lives have changed forever and indirectly The Lucid One benefited tremendously as well.
