We recently connected with Rick Rodstrom and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Rick thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

Rick, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

This is a follow-up article to my previous interview with VoyageLA, from October 2023. I truly appreciate VoyageLA for following my career path with these interviews. In review from my last interview; I am an actor that has received my SAG card in Hollywood. We left off with the Hollywood Premiere, at the famous TCL Chinese Theatre, of the film “Norjack” by Walt Perez, of Verloren Productions. “Norjack” is based on a true story. I am FBI Agent Hogan, in a starring role, in this film. I am very thankful that Walt gave me this fabulous opportunity. I am so appreciative of the entire Cast and Crew of “Norjack”, for their dedication and determination in completing this exciting film.

I am very humbled and grateful for the awards and selections, this film has achieved.
“Norjack” has been selected to be screened at the Broadway International Film Festival (BIFFLA), Indie Night Film Festival (IndieNightFF) and the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival (HRIFF). This film had its first premiere at the most renowned film festival in the world; at the Cannes Court Metrage; Cannes Film Festival, Cannes,France.

These selections lead to “Norjack” being nominated for Best Film of the Year at the IndieNightFF and winning the “Best True Story of the Year” award. In the HRIFF, “Norjack” was nominated for the “Best Drama Short Film” and the “People’s Choice Award” in which it won “Best Drama Short”.

The greatest honor to date; “Norjack” was In Consideration for an Academy Award in the category of “Best Live Action Short Film”. The film made the Oscar’s “Long List”. “Norjack” will be available, this Summer 2024, on Amazon Prime, after it’s film festival run.

I have started a new project; a new film series about boxing. My character is a boxing promoter. Another film is in the early stages of production called “Lucky Quarter”. My role is a casino owner. Lucky Bailey has received permission from Steven King, to write the screenplay and direct this, his original story.

My biggest passion is Music and creating original Rock songs for an album. I have created the music for the album and I am currently writing the lyrics for the songs. I will dub my vocals into these songs for rehearsals, before recording the master, at a million dollar studio, a fellow musician/singer owns.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Yes, I would like for my audience to feel chapters of my life through my music and my acting. Maybe they can relate to what I am emoting through these art forms. I also want to give back to the community, to help those less fortunate.
If I have touched someone and helped them in someway, through my music or acting; I feel I have accomplished some of my goals.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

Yes, very much so. I wish I would have known a fast way to copy write and trademark my songs and band. This would help expedite my songs getting out and being received by the public. Also, I would have liked to have known the process of building my social media exposure.
On the recording side, I would like to have been an expert in dubbing tracks for songs. Again, this would have sped up the process of recording my songs.
