We were lucky to catch up with Rick Reyell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rick, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
To be honest my brand name isn’t a real word, it’s my future kid’s name will be which is Reyell. The Uni stands for university/uni. I just thought of something that would sound good and high end and I came up with Reyell Uni

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Rick Reyell and I own Reyell Uni. I got into fashion when I was 13-14 but I always had a eye for clothes, the designing came when I turned 16. I handmade pieces and started my brand with the knowledge I had to learn myself. I design luxury clothing by hand which I’ve been doing for 2 years. I feel like what’s sets my brand apart from others is the detailing the pieces I design and just the overall look it gives off, it’s just really designer clothing. I’m most proud of the growth of my brand and the theme I’ve found for my brand, which is subtle and detailed. I want everybody to know that my brand will be very big soon and my name will go right along with it.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
I tried having people manufacture my clothes and all it does is slow me down. I went through a hard time trying to fulfill clients orders so now I just hand make all pieces by myself.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Lately it’s been mutual connections, I was never a people person so it was hard to adapt to having to making connections as a Designer.
