Hi Rick, thanks for joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)

As an independent musician, especially in a not so mainstream genre, it’s important to try things out and see what sticks. With no management or major representation, it’s up to me to promote my music. I’ve tried different PR and advertising companies some worked great, some did nothing. Moreover, you need to at least try something out instead of nothing at all.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My earliest memories of music were around 4 years old when I would record myself singing Disney songs on my grandmother’s cassette player. Aladdin was my go to soundtrack as a kiddo…..it may even resurface now and then present day in my car.

Since childhood, I’ve grown accustomed to just about any genre of music but country, folk, and Americana are what speak to me the most. Being able to share moments and stories from Midwest rust belt towns through music provides comfort and relatability to a lot of people.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Not anymore…..I used to think “success” was derived from popularity, sales, recognition, etc. While those things can certainly be great, there’s a never is enough mentality. I’ve learned to enjoy the journey more than the end goal by being present and in the moment.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?

Anything, thanks! Word of mouth maybe most importantly.
