Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Richie Abelia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Richie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I’ve had the pleasure of working with some really amazing people, but I’m most known for my tenure with Watchout! There’s Ghosts. It was a blessing to have worked with my mentor and friend, Jordan Blake. Without him I wouldn’t have met the most amazing and supportive people within the music scene. I met Jordan 10 years ago while going out with some friends. At that point in my life I didn’t even know who he was. I was familiar with his previous band, (A Skylit Drive) but I didn’t know his face. He and I were hanging out and talking. He told me that he really liked my vibe and that I should come record with him. It was funny because my friends were excited. They said “Do you know who that was?!” The explained that it was an honor to go and do music with him. Little did I know how right they were. He helped shape me into who I am today. From there I went almost 10 years doing various projects with him. I was also In Speak Of The Devil with him for a stint. It truly meant the world.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Richie Abelia. I’ve been a musician for over 20 years now and it’s what I’ve always envisioned for my life. Whenever things weren’t going well, I’d always dive into music to help my mind mend itself. I’ve learned a lot of hard lessons in life and music was always the healing factor I’d dive into to help. It taught me patience and persistence. It made into the producer I am today. I also had some really great help learning it all from so many great influences. I strive to help artists get the sound and feel that they’ve always wanted. I am great believer in thinking outside the box. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some really great bands: Ourselves Among Others, Consider The Dreamer, Melissa Marie, Chris Donathan, and many more! I’m so proud of working with these artists. They’re all so driven and it makes me want the best sound I can offer. For my future clients/artists, I’d love to work with you! Please feel free to reach me at [email protected] to discuss production or whatever you’d like to discuss!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think that through music, we can help heal ourselves. I love each and every one of my fans and the support they’ve shown. I hope to always put out great music that might inspire others to be creative and give it a shot! It’s been so inspiring to see the outreach it’s provided. I am an open book, so I encourage others to ask questions if they ever want to!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My journey is certainly not a normal one, but it’s something many of us have dealt with in life. I’ve had heartbreaks and loss. It doesn’t make me special, but rather relatable. I think it’s very prevalent in my own lyrics dealing with loss or many other emotions we all share. My hope is that even if it helps someone else even a little… It was all worth it. With that said, it’s what really matters. Help those around you and show love and kindness. It’s not always easy, but it will help make the world better.
