Richard, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
One thing I focus on with clients or businesses I work with is to meet them where they are at when it comes to understanding the Web3 space. Many people in the Web3 space speak in complex technical terms which tends to confuse new people about what is going on. People learn quick from analogies to things they are familiar with for example when explaining blockchains and cryptocurrencies I compare them to Chuck E Cheese and their tokens or McDonald’s and their reward points. Using terms that people can connect the similarities on their own helps for better understanding of this new technology.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Richard Chungong and I am the founder and owner of Dash In Between Web3 Creative Directing and Advising. I got started in the Web3 space in 2020 during the pandemic with it being a emerging industry that many did not understand. With me having a growing interest and better grasp on this new innovative technology than most it let me to leave my job in sports recruiting to start creating and building tools and project in the web3 space while also advising and consulting those interested in learning more about the space. The thing I am most proud of is the skill i have gained to make a very technically complex industry easier to understand for people from all walks of life by simply connecting things they are interested in to the technology in a way that they can grasp it easier for example relating blockchains and cryptocurrency to Chuck E Cheese and their tokens. The main thing I want people to understand about the Web3 space and what i do is that in many ways we are already using many of the tools in our current technology we just call them slightly different names.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As many know the Web3 space is rather new which bring volatility. Bitcoin went from a all time high of 69k to 16k during 2022 which was also my first year as a full time business owner. During this time i was questioned alot on why i was sticking to a space that was seemily dead and going to zero. One thing that I worked on during this “crypto winter” was focusing on the fundamentals of the technology which I knew was getting better and better with each passing day. With this perspective it gave me a better understanding that all new things go through similar ups and downs especially in the technology space. Bitcoin during this time has now rebounded 150%+ to 47,000 and just recently was accepted as a Exchange traded fund allowing for institutional investment which has been a major hurdle to main stream adoption. Resilience comes from consistent discipline over time and if you are able to get to stick to gameplan even through tough time you usually come out the other side a bit better.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped me build my reputation in the space is the relatable aspect i like to bring to client or business meetings. People learn and understand complex subject easier when they are compared to things they are familiar with in their daily life. When talking about Web3 technology many of the knowledgeable people tend to talk over people’s heads over emphasizing the technology. Clients I work with pick up on the concepts very quickly when i ask what things they like or use I simply take the brand or item and put it into a analogy like “what If you could sell your airline rewards points instead of just letting them sit?” this is something that cant be done with Web2 but is possible with Web3 technology. These simple connections allow for people who think they cannot understand it start to make connections in other area which means they are applying the knowledge which is the best form of learning.
