We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rich Robledo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rich, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
During the last recession, I lost everything in 2006 2 years before the stock market crash. I questioned my career and myself at the time. I was blessed to have several mentors help me through this time with many great lessons and insight.
They each were able to point out that, being in business for ourselves is always a risk. We lose some, we win some. However we don’t give up. We bet on ourselves continually. We make adjustments and learn from our mistakes. I spoke with a group of kids who were on probation and still in high school for crimes. One kid asked me what my biggest risk taken. I knew with his age, he wanted to know a dollar amount I lost. I told him, the biggest I ever took was betting on myself and I bet on that risk every day. Fighting through daily fear and struggles.

Rich, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I like most agents got into the business after a casual recommendation from a friend after he helped me buy my 2nd house. Rich, why don’t you try real estate? I responded with, Mike, I am doing ok. I just bought another home. Why would you suggest that? He quickly replied. Rich, I do real well in real estate and people don’t really love me. EVERYONE loves you, it would be easier when people like you.
After closing on the house, I asked both my supervisor and VP of marketing for cable where I was in cable apartment sales. Both mentioned how there were to many real estate agents in town and how they both have tried. Since they weren’t successful, maybe I should not try. This was just the fuel, I needed to take the course.
I am a real estate professional dedicated to providing solutions for my clients. Building strong relationships is essential because trust is the foundation of our work together. By prioritizing my clients’ interests, I can effectively help them find what they’re looking for. I see transactions not as isolated events, but as the beginning of lasting connections that extend well beyond the initial engagement.”

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
In real estate there are so many people involved in the transaction from start to finish, and it is easy to get overwhelmed with many deals happening at once. I have been able to create and maintain a great reputation because of mentors helping me along the way. Teaching me, that to be successful who will work with most of the good agents several times in my career. We all have bad days, give others grace first. Remove our egos, no need to prove anything to anyone. We are not here to compete, we are here to cooperate for our clients. These simple lessons have helped me maintain my reputation

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
This is an interesting question to me. As times have changed, so has my philosophy about social media. I use social media as a reminder for who want to be, why I do certain practices, sharing my insight on mind, body, soul, family and business.
Being quiet not silent, so people know where I stand.
