We were lucky to catch up with Rich Habits recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rich, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
Being anew event space owner we had a bad leak in the ceiling 3hrs before we had an event start. Me and my mom was mopping n using buckets til we found a plumber that was able to stop the leake in get things resdy for the event 15minutes before it was time for the customer to setup up and decorate

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
9 years ago I was a nursing assistant and one day I decided I wanted to make my own hours and schedule so I took a leap of faith and quit my job the very next day. I made some good stock investments started a film company had a short film in amc theathers, 3 years later started a vending machine business and now me and my mom own an event space

Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses.
Yes I bought a vending location at small hospital in Camden New Jersey. Was contacted by a friend that knew I was looking for new locations. I had to get to new the staff plus mangers and take into consideration the type of items they wanted in the vending machine, smooth easy process no cold calling. Now I have 3 locations and 5 machines thru out the tri state area

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Every now and then I’ll put either dollar bills or lottery stratch off tickets on the back of items to get people talking and make other people wanna purchase more items
