We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ricardo Ron a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ricardo, thanks for joining us today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?

My content is always misunderstood from those who are not aware of the Beauty Industry and Community on Social Media. Even though Men have been integral and trendsetters in the Beauty Industry since the beginning, it is often still viewed as a taboo. I began my content creation journey by speaking on skincare and opening the door for Men to learn more about the importance of skincare and how to go about creating a routine. However, when I introduced makeup content, I was met with a lot of pushback on social media simply because I was a man. I’m still breaking those stigmas and pushing boundaries today.

Ricardo, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Ricardo Ron and I am a Beauty Content Creator with a special focus on beating the stigma surrounding Men in the Skincare and Beauty industry. My content is informative and entertaining, whether it’s demonstrating a skincare routine, highlighting a product, creating universal makeup looks or showing how Men can utilize makeup products to enhance their grooming. When it comes to Makeup, I specialize in natural, no makeup makeup looks that can be done by anyone who desires that type of look. I started creating content because I noticed a lack of representation of Black & Latino Men on Social media creating this specific type of content. Since 2020 many doors have opened for me to partner with major brands, as well as, being selected for the 2022 Sephora Squad.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My goal is to end to the stigma surrounding skincare and makeup for men. There is a lot of neglect when it comes to personal hygiene when it comes to Men because of the lack of knowledge or exposure to using skincare products. I want to help as many men as possible feel more confident and to understand that how we take care of our skin really affects our overall health and self-esteem.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect is just receiving messages every now and then from supporters who say that my content has helped them. From starting a new skincare routine and seeing results to learning how to utilize certain makeup products for special occasions or just everyday in a way that makes them feel more confident and present.
