Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ricardo Rivers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, Ricardo thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I was tasked with a photography job, and at the time I was very unprepared and dubious. After feeling unsuccessful about the job that was given, I began to dive into photography and by reaching out to veteran photographers and completing research.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

How I got into the business. I took an undergraduate course in Photography while attending Bethune Cookman University. It was the first time my interest was piqued. Several years later I received an opportunity to capture a friend’s graduation celebration. It was my first photography job. I was not pleased with the outcome of the photographs, but my friend was. Months after that, I did my first photoshoot with another friend. She posted the images on social media and that was the beginning of Ricardo Rivers Photography at the time it was called Double R Photography.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

I keep in touch with my clients by regularly interacting with my clients in person and via social media.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

A time when I had to pivot in my business. I used to work a very demanding job that required 12 to 16 hour days and 70 plus hours weekly. I did not have time to run a business and it became depressing. Clients became upset because I was never available. I had to undergo surgery and was out for a month. I was adamant about not returning to work. The day I returned to work I submitted my two weeks notice. I found a career that was flexible and structured. It also afforded me the opportunity to continue my business.
