We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ricardo Breceda a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ricardo thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My daughter (Lianna Arroyo); seven at the time, was fascinated with Dinosauros. I wanted to build something for her that would exceed her expectations and also challenge my self with a new project. I just had traded a pair of boots for a welding machine and decided this would be how I would fulfill her dream and what I thought was just going to be a new hobby at the time for me. I gathered the material I wanted to work with and began my project. It was tricky and sometimes frustrating but it all started to come together. My daughters dinosaur was created and she was the happiest. But I also realized it brought others happiness as well and that’s when I decided I continue to create these metal structures.

Ricardo, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I became apart of the art industry by chance. I didn’t realize how creating something for my daughter would bring me where I am now. Solely, creating and living off of my art has been a blessing. It took time to be where I am now but it was a beautiful journey and the process has changed my art as well .
My art was very boxy in the beginning and over time I have found different techniques and ways of shaping, detailing and adding so much more character to my work. The more I work, the more I grow.
My gallery is located at 44450 Highway 79 S. Aguanga, CA where you can see my work and sometimes see me work. It is all for purchase and you can also request custom work.
It’s outdoors and there is so much to enjoy. I hope to create a place where I can bring many art lovers and artist together.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My resilience has always came and has been for my daughters. They motivate me and push me because I want to leave them well-off. That has always kept me on track and placed me where I am now.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
It was something I did for my daughter that sparked this whole business idea up. Then I wanted to create for the people. It really scaled up when I started my project in Anza Borrego and I did over 150 large sculptures for them that you can go on this Mapquest for in the desert of California.
