We recently connected with Rhys Olivia Cote and have shared our conversation below.
Rhys Olivia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents are the ones who have been supporting me in my acting career since I was just a little girl. The endless hours of driving to auditions, callbacks, and jobs was exhausting for us all, but well worth it. I’ve learned that in order to succeed you need to put the effort in. Nothing in life comes easy, but hard work pays off.
Rhys Olivia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I was 3 1/2 years old. I was placed in the top 15 on Kelly & Michael Live – Cutest Kid Contest. After that I signed to an agency in NYC and Boston one. At age 7, I was on Little Big Shots with Mr. Steve Harvey. This is when I was signed by my manager and agency in California. At age 8, I worked on my first feature film, The Equalizer 2, with Mr. Denzel Washington. I have done 4 more movies, 3 short films, and 2 TV shows. My latest film is Sheepdog. I’m looking forward to sharing it with the world. I have also done a handful of commercials. Over the years I worked for Tommy Hilfiger Global, Ralph Lauren, Love Shack Fancy , Oscar de la Renta and even opened for one of his runway bridal shows. I’ve done many brands and have enjoyed them all. I’ve also done many editorials. I think what sets me apart from others is that it’s not all about getting the job. It’s about getting the right job for me. I am a caring person who believes things happen for a reason and even if I don’t get the role, I am always happy for the opportunity and thankful for my amazing team of agents and my manager.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I was recently a contributor in a book called “The Success Guide Book.
This is an inspirational guide for visualizing and actualizing success on a personal and professional level.
Author Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino, master life coach and founder of The Best Ever You Network has long espoused that we must redefine success for our authentic selves-a one-size fits-all-concept is not only outdated but unworkable. Success is so much more than data or the dollars in our bank account. “True success is reflected in the smiles that brighten our faces and the peace that settles in our hearts. It’s the gratitude we seek in all things and the intention and actions being our very best in each moment.” I am the youngest success story in her book. It was definitely inspirational for me and a honor to be able to contribute.
