We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rhonda Spratt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rhonda, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the most meaningful projects which I’m currently working on is my non-profit organization, Bella Luve’ Goes Pink. The name Bella Luve’ (pronounced Bella Loo Vay) is derived from my Mom’s middle name (Isabella) and my Dad’s first name (Luvell). I’ve created this organization to honor the memory of my Mom, who lost her battle with breast cancer. The mission and purpose of the organization is to celebrate, support and empower breast cancer survivors through various events and initiatives.
Starting a non-profit organization has been, at times, overwhelming and tedious. However, my desire to pay tribute to my Mom and exemplify care, concern and love to cancer survivors makes the process worthwhile.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m the owner of Bella Luve’ Events by Design, a boutique event planning company based in Atlanta, Georgia. What sets me apart from other event planners is my passion to plan and coordinate events that empower and uplift women which includes hosting an annual women’s retreat in various countries. I enjoy curating travel experiences which allow women to relax and unplug from the hustle of everyday routine and reconnect with themselves. Also, I’m extremely passionate about my involvement with breast cancer awareness initiatives.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Being an entrepreneur has its share of challenges. And as an event and travel planner, I experienced a unique set of challenges during COVID-19. Because of social distancing, I was forced to cancel a client’s wedding vow renewal, the annual Women’s Retreat and postpone all vacation plans. The impact of the pandemic on the event and travel industry was staggering! I was forced to reevaluate my business, pivot and begin hosting online events.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
As a creative, my journey is constantly evolving. In addition to being an event and travel planner and the founder of a non-profit organization; Bella Luve’ Goes Pink, I also own a travel business, Bella Luve’ Travel. My goal is to continue to expand the Bella Luve’ brand to embody who I am as a successful Black Woman, Mother, Travel Enthusiast and Entrepreneur.
