We recently connected with Rhonda Mesenbourg and have shared our conversation below.
Rhonda, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Sam: Although I grew up in a very uniform community, my parents always kept me in diverse company. I’m grateful because this has allowed me to better understand and empathize with other people’s experiences in life that I, personally, haven’t been through. I’m able to better connect with a wide variety of people and have a solid appreciation for others that have different backgrounds, thoughts, and ideas from myself.
Rhonda:
I think my parents instilled the importance of being a kind person and helping others in any way that you can. They taught me to be accountable and gave me confidence to be independent, by teaching me that I can do anything I set my mind to.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Sam Growing up, my family was fortunate enough to own multiple homes, both primary residences and vacation rentals. This helped me to realize the value of real estate and all the opportunities (both experiential and financial) that it can afford my future family. Back in 2017, I wasn't happy with my position and wanted a job that was more fulfilling. I came back to this idea of owning multiple properties and I figured what better way to work towards that goal than to get into the real estate industry myself. This way I’m constantly learning about real estate investing, studying different strategies, and finding off market properties. This passion also helps me create opportunities for my clients. As a team, we don’t just wait around for a house to come on the market or for a buyer to call us. We are constantly prospecting for listings that aren’t on MLS. These off-market deals diminish the competition for our clients, often getting them a better deal financially. When it comes to our business, I'm most proud of the referral clients that we get because it shows we are approaching the business and our client relationships in the right way. Our number one priority is helping our clients achieve their real estate goals, not just earning a commission, and I’m confident our clients know that. From this, our business has grown steadily over the past few years.
Rhonda
I’ve had experience in many different industries, ranging from healthcare and customer service all the way to IT and entertainment. Back in 2007, I was looking for a career change and decided to take the real estate licensing course. It was the first time that I felt like I was moving towards a career that I was truly passionate about.
Though I currently work primarily in residential real estate, I started out selling commercial properties and have a strong background in property management as well. My extensive experience helps me to anticipate any issue that may arise during a transaction, find solutions, and take the stress and worry away from my clients. I’m proud to take this one step further by being very involved at the state level. I work to ensure the industry is held to the highest standards and our clients are receiving the professionalism they deserve.
Real Estate gives my joy every day as I love working with my clients and helping them buy or sell their dream home, whether it be a primary residence or vacation property. I make sure to treat my clients’ transactions as if they are my own. Often, my clients are like family, and I truly appreciate the relationships and lasting friendships I’ve formed.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
I first met Sam back in 2018 when I joined Keller Williams. We were each running our own team at the time. In 2020 both Sam and I accepted leadership positions within our office; I became Team Leader and Sam became Head of Productivity for the brokerage. While on leadership, we got to know each other better and we would spend time brainstorm ideas on building our businesses and improving our agent experiences. After a while, the conversation turned towards us joining forces and in November, 2021 we officially launched the Alpern & Mesenbourg Group. We both took a step back from leadership in mid- 2022 to focus entirely on our team so that we can offer the best service to our clients.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
A few years ago, there were two properties on the market that had been listed with another agent. The agent was unsuccessful in selling the homes, so I gave the owner a call. I explained my approach and how it was different than what any other agent would be willing to do. At our listing appointment I found out she owned five properties in total, all in close proximity to each other. She was interested in selling them on behalf of the father who was in the hospital and needed the funds for medical bills. I understood immediately that this would be an emotional transaction for her, not only because she grew up in one of the properties (and had family living in another one), but because of her stress and needing to close quickly so that her father was able to get the care he required. I brought her a client immediately who put an offer in on both properties. With her permission, I mentioned the other three. My buyer bought all five properties in cash, with no inspections, and they all closed within 30 days. I’m happy I was able to help get the family into a much better position financially within a timeline that worked great for them.
