We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rhonda Hill a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rhonda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Wilted Willow LLC came to life during a hectic time. I had just returned from maternity leave to a fast-paced office environment with many workflow changes. On top of that, I was working from home while caring for my baby and our dog, who was battling bladder cancer. The days were long, and I often felt wilted, like a weeping willow tree – strong but bending under the pressure. But, like a willow, I didn’t break. When my partner would come home, and things settled down, I’d take a little time for self-care, usually with some good body oils. It became my way to reset. I wanted to share that renewal with others, and that’s how Wilted Willow LLC was born.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello! I’m Rhonda, the proud owner of Wilted Willow and a mother of one. My journey into the beauty and self-care industry started after my maternity leave when I realized the importance of self-care in staying grounded and recharged. I wanted to share that sense of renewal with others, which led to the creation of my brand. At Wilted Willow, I offer a variety of products designed to help people relax and reset, including after-shower oils, body scrubs, lip scrubs, shower steamers, candles, and wax melts. It’s like delivering a ‘spa in a box’ right to your door for those moments when you can’t get away.
What sets me apart is my passion for customer service. I love connecting with my customers, talking to them about the benefits of each product, and tailoring orders to meet their specific needs. That personal connection is crucial to me; I think it makes a big difference. I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come as a business owner. My products are now in stores, and I’ve been able to reinvest in my business to improve my workflow. I’ve also built unique relationships with vendors and customers who give me great feedback and ideas for new products. Listening to my customers has been vital in expanding my brand, and I’m always looking for ways to bring them something they’ll love.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I organically built my social media following by attending farmer’s markets and pop-up events. These in-person interactions helped create a sense of community, and I used social media to extend those connections. Through my posts, customers and potential customers can get a glimpse of my story – from how I started to the improvements I’ve made and the new products I introduce.
For those just starting to build their social media presence, my advice would be to be authentic and consistent. Share your journey, not just your products. People love seeing the behind-the-scenes, whether it’s how you make your products or what inspires you. Engage with your audience – respond to comments, ask for feedback, and create content that resonates with your target market. And most importantly, be patient. Building a community takes time, but it’s worth it when people feel connected to you and your brand.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My best new client source has been farmer’s markets and pop-up events. Meeting customers in person and hearing their stories gives me a much better understanding of what they’re looking for and how I can help them. These events allow me to explain and even demonstrate my products in a way that doesn’t happen online. While I have a contact form on my website, I don’t get many inquiries. The in-person connection is where I engage and provide that personal touch, which I believe is critical to building lasting relationships with my customers.
