Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rhonda Eldridge. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rhonda, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
We began in 2017 as a program of a local rescue. After 1 year, the rescue decided we had grown to big for them to support us. In May of 2018 the volunteers incorporated on our own.
Over the years we have created many programs.
*We created a free Food Pantry so we could deliver food and supplies.
*Fleece for the Furbabies, a program for school kids that need community service hours while benefiting the pets.
*Warrior Cats of Hillsborough, a foster program for cats of veterans, active duty and first responders.
*Community Dog House program, providing new dog houses to the less fortunate.
*Sponsoring adoption events.
*Sponsoring vaccination clinics.
We are constantly changing or adding to our programs based on what our community needs. It’s important to us to make a positive impact on our community while saving the lives of pets.
Rhonda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always enjoyed volunteering and giving back to my community.
I want to be the change I want to see in the world. I always tell my son that the most important things I can leave him is morals, values, ethics and community respect.
Community Pet Project is non judgmental and we treat all of our clients and sponsors with respect. We know it takes all of us to make a difference.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
To receive our assistance, you must qualify. We take peoples word that they qualify.
If we promise something, we will always deliver and if we can’t, we find an alternative.
I won’t tell people no. I will offer suggestions or even help look into other options for them.
Just recently we were approached about a dog whose mom went into the hospital. Moms friend had the dog but the resident 4 legged children were not happy about. This led the pup to being put into a crate on the porch. The friend felt horrible so she reached out to us. We are not in the business of fostering but we can share the story. Within 5 hours we had a plan! We can only pull things like this off with the support of an incredible community.
We you keep your word, tell the truth and go the extra mile, you build an incredible reputation.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
We serve low income, homeless and veterans in Hillsborough County.
Fortunately for us, all of these groups of people are all tight knit and word travels fast.
Facebook is also very good to us by allowing our services to be shared to many many quickly and easily.
We are also fortunate to have law enforcement and veterinarians recommend residents to us.
