Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rhiannon Archuleta. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rhiannon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I have always had an interest and fascination with bears. You could say that they are my spirit animal. I have received many messages through them during difficult times in my life and times of loss or change. They tend to show up in my life when I need guidance or direction. I am talking about actual bears in the wild! Spirit Bears are white-coated black bears that are found in British Columbia. They are rare and elusive and quite a gift to see in person. I hope that the work that I do is inspiring and magical, grounded and helpful just like bears have always been for me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been an animal lover and a very sensitive person all of my life. I have always preferred the company of animals and nature and looked for a way to incorporate that into my career. In 2003 I opened a pet grooming business which I have successfully run for close to 20 years. Around 2014 I decided to take a course to become a certified dog trainer and the individual who was teaching it also offered a course in Animal Reiki. During that course I was introduced to animal communication. From that point on I was intrigued and searched out every book and course that I could about the subject until it finally clicked for me and I was able to communicate with animals myself. After a few years of doing it I realized that I was also able to get intuitive information for people about their lives, as well as connect with human spirits who had passed on, The information comes through the same channels. I feel that working with animals on the physical level and having to be able to read them in order to keep them and myself safe during the grooming process really helped me to develop the ability to connect with them telepathically. Each animal is an individual and has wants and needs, desires and preferences and it is truly a joy connecting with them and helping them to express to their human guardians. I am able to connect with them about how they are feeling, what they think about situations or experiences, their purpose for being with their human family, end of life concerns and anything they would like to “talk” about. I aways open up by giving the animal an opportunity to express what they want before addressing the concerns of their guardian. My main goal is to allow the animals to express themselves and also to help their guardians understand their needs.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I was raised in a family without much encouragement. I had a very troubled sibling who took up most of my parents’ attention and time. I was left to my own devices and never really felt that I had much to offer. I often heard how talented and intelligent my sibling was which was a dichotomy to his criminal behavior. It left me feeling unappreciated and pretty worthless. I was extremely sensitive and empathetic and found it difficult to interact with people. I found peace and acceptance with my animal friends and in nature. Fast forward into adulthood and becoming interested in the metaphysical world. Most of what I heard from others was that you had to be born with these gifts (spoiler alert: we all have them to varying degrees) and if you weren’t a third generation Psychic Medium who sees ghosts everywhere you go, you weren’t legitimate. I learned that we all have these skills but most of us have dimmed or shut down throughout our lives and it is possible to relearn and improve upon them with practice and dedication. I realized that I always have been reading energy and just didn’t realize it and have since learned to focus and control the ability in order to do intuitive readings for people and their pets. Having dedicated my life to animals, Animal Communication comes easily to me. Someone else who works in the medical field may find medical intuition is their strength. Embracing who I am and my interests and how I function instead of trying to fit into other people’s definitions has really helped me to flourish in my abilities.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Being shy and a very private person has been a bit of a hinderance for me in gaining new clients. I do not like to advertise myself and don’t like to share myself freely. This can be a detriment to a business that is entirely me. My source of new clients for both my grooming business and my Intuitive Reading business has always been word of mouth. I get referrals from clients, veterinarians, other intuitive practitioners, pet stores, etc. I always do my absolute best work, charge fairly and treat each person or animal that I encounter with compassion and understanding. This, above all else, has resulted in many referrals over the years.
