We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rey Grandoit. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rey below.
Rey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Own your Inspirtation is a movement and creative project led by Rey Grandoit also know as Rey Grand, built around the idea of unlocking the power within yourself. It’s about mindset, resilience, and purpose — transforming struggle into strength and vision into reality. Through music, storytelling, and motivational art, OYI encourages people to think bigger, believe deeper, and rise higher no matter their circumstances. It’s not just a brand — it’s a reminder that greatness starts in the mind.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Rey Grandoit, also known as Rey Grand — I’m a para-athlete, entrepreneur, and recording artist driven by a mission to inspire through purpose and perseverance. My journey began through personal struggle, overcoming challenges with faith, discipline, and creativity. What started as a way to express pain and purpose through words and rhythm grew into a platform for empowerment — a space where art, mindset, and motivation meet.
Through my creative brand and movement Own Your Inspiration, I create music, books, and motivational projects that help people see that greatness starts within. My work focuses on building resilience, identity, and belief — turning limitations into power. Whether it’s a song, a talk, or a visual project, my goal is always the same: to spark transformation and self-belief in persons with disabilities and others.
What sets me apart is my authenticity — I live what I speak. I’m proud of representing strength, purpose, and creativity as someone who’s faced adversity yet continues to rise. For anyone connecting with my work, I want them to know that OYI isn’t just about me — it’s about all of us discovering the greatness already inside of us.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life came after my divorce — a moment that forced me to rebuild from the inside out. It was a season of loss, reflection, and painful growth. I had to face parts of myself I’d ignored and learn how to stand again without the structure I once depended on. Leaning on my faith and therapy became a key part of that process — it taught me how to heal, communicate, and understand my emotions in a way I never had before. That experience not only changed how I saw myself but also how I approached my purpose, my art, and my business. It reminded me that real strength isn’t about never breaking — it’s about rebuilding with more wisdom, peace, and intention than before.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A major lesson I had to unlearn was thinking that strength meant doing everything on my own. For a long time, I believed independence equaled power — that asking for help or showing emotion made me weak. That mindset came from surviving tough times and always having to be my own support system. But during and after my divorce, I learned that real strength isn’t isolation — it’s vulnerability, honesty, and connection. Therapy helped me see that healing happens when you allow yourself to be seen and supported. Unlearning that “lone warrior” mindset freed me to grow emotionally, creatively, and spiritually. It allowed me to connect deeper with people and build Own Your Inspiration not just as a brand, but as a community where openness is power.
