Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Renita Turner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Renita thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Jewels of the Future Inc. was founded alongside my oldest daughter, Diamond Wallace, beginning with community events hosted through our business, Cutz Linez & Trimz. What started as simply giving back has grown into a nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring teen girls, with a strong focus on entrepreneurship, education, and community service.
Our organization was created in honor of my mother, Angela Daniels, whose selflessness and love for children inspired our mission. Children were always important to her, so it was only fitting that our work would center around uplifting and supporting youth.
Being located in Jacksonville’s 32209 area, one of the most underserved communities in the state, we witnessed the need firsthand and made the decision to respond through action.
Throughout the year, Jewels of the Future Inc. hosts community events for local families, including Christmas celebrations, back-to-school drives, and outreach initiatives. Through these efforts, we have provided toys, food, school supplies, and resources to more than 500 families.
We are proud that, despite not receiving official grant funding, we have been able to make a lasting impact through the unwavering support of our friends, family, clients, and community partners who believe in our mission.

Renita , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, but my family moved to Jacksonville when I was four years old after my dad was stationed here, and this has been home ever since.
Having my daughter at 17 made me very familiar with the importance and need for mentors. I understand firsthand how valuable guidance, support, and having someone believe in you can be. My mother was also a major inspiration behind starting Jewels of the Future Inc. Her selflessness, love for children, and passion for helping others helped shape the heart of our organization.
Because my husband and I work in the beauty industry, we opened our barbershop/salon, Cutz Linez & Trimz. Through our business, I was able to connect with and reach so many people in the community. It became more than a business — it became a place where relationships were built and needs were seen.
Helping people is one of the most important things to me. It genuinely fills my heart when a parent comes up to me and says, “Thank you so much, I didn’t know what I was going to do about Christmas,” or “Thank you for helping with back-to-school supplies.” Those moments mean everything.
I’ve been a single mother, and I know exactly what it feels like to struggle, to need support, and to simply want the best for your child. At the end of the day, it truly takes a village, and I believe that sense of community and support is what has been missing for so many families. Through Jewels of the Future Inc., my goal is to help rebuild that village — one child, one family, and one opportunity at a time.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Being a single mother and losing my mom at 24 is what made me resilient. I was still a young mother when my mom passed away, and it was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. Suddenly, I had to navigate life without the one person I trusted completely. I had to truly learn what being a single mother meant. Facing life’s challenges, hardships, and traumatic situations without the person you depend on for guidance, support, and advice was extremely difficult. But through that journey, I became stronger, more independent, and more empathetic toward others and the struggles they face.

How’d you meet your business partner?
My cofounder, Diamond Wallace, my oldest daughter, founded this nonprofit with me, and I couldn’t think of a better person to build this vision alongside. She is the perfect example of not allowing life’s circumstances to dim your light.
Despite enduring sexual abuse and losing her father to gun violence at a young age, she has continued to rise, persevere, and walk in strength and purpose. Her resilience, courage, and determination embody everything we want the girls in our program to see when they look at themselves.
Diamond represents healing, strength, and the power of overcoming adversity. She is living proof that what happens to you does not define you — and that your story can become the very thing that inspires and empowers others.
