We recently connected with Renez and have shared our conversation below.

Renez, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

The biggest risk I’ve taken was leaving my cozy, high-paying corporate tech job and my 12-year relationship within the same month. I was a nerdy tech program management professional for 20 years and established a very nice nest egg while working for some of the top Tech companies in Silicon Valley (LinkedIn, Google, PayPal, Meta, Virgin America, Ebay). I had a spiritual awakening around 2014 and that forever changed my life as well. I was working at LinkedIn at the time and I just hit a wall. None of the work I was doing made sense to me anymore. I tried looking or a different position within LinkedIn and asked my boss for help, but that ultimately led me to getting pushed out because my boss did not like the fact that I didn’t want to work in his team anymore. I left LI on bad terms with my boss and with a severance package. For years I struggled with what I wanted to do next and who was I. I went from job to job trying to find my place, but nothing felt right. In the meantime, my partner and I were struggling. I ended up moving out in 2020. In 2021, I decided to move to Santa Barbara, where I knew no one. I just wanted a fresh start. I started working two full-time jobs (Meta & Intuit). I buried myself in work and also spent time figuring out who I was, what my gifts are, etc. My ex and I tried to be together again, but it only lasted a year. In 2023, I took my last tech gig for 6 months and then was faced with a decision of “shit or get off the pot”. I had been working on spiritual gifts as well, and I became a Reiki master, Akashic Records Practitioner, and a Spiritual Wellness Coach. It was time to bet on me, my skills, talents, and knowledge. I jumped without a safety net, fully trusting the universe/god/, or the divine. About six weeks later, I left my ex-boyfriend for good. I was in this new world, one where I had to learn business fast and also how to be alone during this major transition. I’m a few years into it and I can say I”m thriving. I continue to go through ups and downs, but I feel as if I have emerged with a whole new soul.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I got into Spirituality about 12 years ago. I was curious about what else is out there. My first spiritual book was The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama. I recall loving that book immensely. And then I continued to dig for more information. However, it took me almost a decade to hone in on my spiritual gifts. I didn’t realize I had any until I started putting the pieces together. My grandmother is a healer, and she used to heal me as a child with her hands. I then knew I was going to be a Reiki Healer. It came very naturally to me. I also discovered my talents and gifts through the use of plant medicine. I would take these journeys and see how I was supposed to navigate as a healer. I owe a lot of the unfolding of my gifts to plant medicine.

I own two businesses, one is a spiritual wellness consulting business, and the other is an online apothecary (Serpent & Stars). As a spiritual wellness coach, I offer 1-1 coaching for burned-out professionals to reconnect with their purpose and unique gifts so that they can stop feeling stuck and start living with freedom and fulfillment. I love being a guide for others. I know without any doubt that I am here to usher people “back home”. That feeling of home is something we all know and have felt before at least once in our lives.

The apothecary is where ancient ritual meets sacred self-care. As a true alchemist, I create all of the products from scratch. I know Mother Nature has provided all the answers within nature. The brand offers sacred, energetically-aligned, clean self-care tools that help spiritually awakening souls return to their bodies, reconnect with ritual, and feel soft, sacred, and supported — every single day.

What sets me apart from others is my dedication to the divine. My job is to be of service and to bring knowledge and healing to the masses. My intentions are pure and honest. I take my job as a healer very seriously and bring 100% of myself to everything I create.

I’m most proud of my courage. It takes a lot for someone to ditch a very cozy lifestyle and risk it all for a vision only they can see. My followers stay because they feel me, what I bring to the table. It’s an energetic, healing vibration they feel when we connect. People are seeking safety, and it’s what I provide to followers/fans/clients.

I’m here to support people on their journey. Some may not resonate and not be ready for this information yet, and that’s okay. I will be here waiting for them when they do. My brand is ME. Sometimes the only way to describe me is to experience me.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

The lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that all I ever wanted or needed was outside of me—the goals, dreams, and so on.

I was taught since the beginning of school that I if I was to succeed, I need to follow rules, pass tests, and obey authority. So, for almost 35 years, I did that. I followed the rules, went to college, got a well-paying job, and continued to strive for more in that job. Always reaching for the higher-paying position, getting that bonus.

It wasn’t until I discovered the truth of my existence that I realized I had it all wrong. I was taught all wrong. I was indoctrinated into a system that wanted me to never know my true, unique powers. So, I went on a quest to find the real me, the one who had to strip down that old version of me, and discover the new quantum me. When I finally reached a point of understanding just how powerful I am, I started making aligned decisions that ignited my soul. The world opened up like, I had never experienced it before. Opportunities I never thought possible began to unfold. The most amazing people, synchronicities, and gifts came flowing in, which is what brought me here today doing what I do.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?

Realizing that you are a forever student. You will never know all there is to know because the world is forever changing within every present moment. The Spiritual path is a road less taken because it is a hard path. People often give up just before they achieve an amazing breakthrough. This path will take you to your lowest lows and your highest highs. The key to success is to stay present, manage your emotions, and maintain unwavering faith that everything is exactly as it should be.
