We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Renee Bethel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Renee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
Yes, there was a defining moment that completely shifted the trajectory of my career – and it came after one of the most challenging seasons of my life.
For six years, I was in a full-time caregiver role as my husband faced a serious illness and my daughter recovered from devastating injuries after being hit by an 18-wheeler. During that time, I was pouring out everything I had for the people I loved, but somewhere along the way, I lost sight of myself. I came to a painful but powerful realization – I had been caring for everyone around me except me.
Out of that experience, I wrote Finding Me: A Woman’s Guide to Learning More About Herself – a self-discovery journal designed to help women explore emotional, spiritual, and physical wellness. But writing the journal was just the beginning. In an effort to promote the book and confidently guide women through the material, I enrolled in a Group Coaching course with the Professional Christian Coaching Institute (PCCI).
The defining moment came during the second class of that program. I had an unexpected “a-ha” moment – a deep, clear knowing that this was what I was created to do. It sounds funny to say, but at that moment, I finally knew “what I wanted to be when I grew up.” And while I was approaching my senior years, I also knew it’s never too late to move forward in what God calls you to do.
That class changed everything. I saw the power of coaching to bring clarity and insight in a way that aligned beautifully with my faith and passion for helping Christian women express Christ’s life in them. I immediately enrolled in PCCI’s Essentials of Life Coaching and began the journey toward becoming a Certified Professional Life Coach. I also became a Certified Enneagram Coach to deepen the identity work I was doing with women.
That moment marked the beginning of Finding Me Christian Coaching — a space where I now empower Jesus-loving women through personality-driven growth so they can improve their most important relationships: with God, with themselves, and with the people they love. The lesson I learned? Sometimes the most painful seasons lead to the most purposeful callings. And it’s never too late to move forward with something different.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Renee Bethel, and I empower Jesus-loving women through personality-driven growth so they can improve their most important relationships — with God, with themselves, and with their circle of influence. As a Christian Life Coach and certified Enneagram coach, my work is rooted in grace-based, New Covenant truth and guided by a deep belief that each woman is uniquely created, deeply loved, and divinely equipped to live a life of freedom and connection.
My journey into this work came from my own desire to grow spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. I’ve experienced firsthand the transformation that happens when you begin to understand who you are in Christ — not just theologically, but practically — and how that impacts your everyday thoughts, feelings, and interactions. That passion to help other women understand who they are and what they have as a very loved child of God led me to study coaching, the Enneagram, and develop a program around holistic soul care from a Christian perspective. I long to see Christian women go from hanging their heads in shame to walking in freedom and confidence expressing Christ’s life to others in their circle of influence.
I offer several services and resources that reflect this mission:
Christian Life Coaching — One-on-one sessions designed to help women identify what’s keeping them stuck, uncover limiting beliefs, and walk in the truth of their identity as a beloved child of God.
Enneagram Typing and Coaching — Using the WEPSS Enneagram assessment and personalized sessions, I guide women in discovering their personality type and how it shapes their internal world, spiritual growth, and relationships.
Biblical Truth Cards — A set of 31 identity in Christ statements paired with Scripture that can be displayed, carried, and spoken aloud daily to renew the mind and reinforce God’s truth.
Who Am I Free Resource – Life-giving affirmations to replace lies with Biblical truth about who you are and what you have as God’s child.
Workshops, Journals, and Digital Resources — Tools that help women deepen their walk with God, emotionally regulate, and live in alignment with who they are in Christ.
Free Discovery Call – A no-pressure Zoom call to discuss what’s bringing you to coaching and if it makes sense for us to work together.
What sets me apart is the integration of personality understanding, coaching tools, emotional wellness, and deeply rooted Biblical truth — all through the lens of grace, not striving. Many Christian women feel pulled in different directions — serving others while ignoring their own needs, questioning their worth, or feeling unsure how to relate authentically to God and the people they love. I help them slow down, understand what motivates their thinking, feeling and doing, and align with truth so they can show up with clarity, calm, and confidence.
I’m especially proud of how my work helps women not only discover more about themselves but renew their minds to the truth God says about them — and live from it. Watching a woman replace shame or self-doubt with a deep sense of belovedness is sacred ground, and I never take it for granted. Also, seeing a woman normalize what she’s experienced internally and have language to discuss her needs and values is very fulfilling.
If there’s one thing I want potential clients or followers to know, it’s this: You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. God has already given you everything you need for life and godliness — and through coaching and tools like the Enneagram, we can uncover and activate it together. You’re not too much, not behind, and not broken. You are God’s masterpiece, and your journey of personal growth is waiting for you to begin.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
One thing that can be very helpful to succeed as a life coach is doing your own inner work and staying grounded in your identity in Christ. Self-awareness and personal growth are essential. When you stay in touch with your own emotions, motivations, and thought patterns, you’re able to lead others with authenticity, curiosity and confidence.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One thing that illustrates my resilience came not during a crisis, but in the quiet, ongoing challenge of building a business while still spending time with my husband, adult children and grandchildren.
As a Certified Life Coach and Enneagram Coach, I felt a clear call from God to step into this new season of ministry — helping Christian women understand who they are and what they have as His beloved daughters. But what no one sees behind the scenes is the weight of being a solopreneur, the emotional vulnerability of showing up authentically online, and the discipline it takes to create content, serve clients, and build systems — all while still being present for myself and my family.
There were days when I questioned if I should keep going — not because I didn’t love what I was doing, but because I was navigating that tension between obedience to my calling and the very real demands of everyday life.
What helped me stay resilient wasn’t hustle — it was alignment. I leaned heavily into the tools I teach my clients – understanding my Enneagram type and knowing what fuels and drains me, recognizing when I was operating from stress instead of from grace, and coming back to the truth of my identity in Christ. I used tools that I share with my clients for emotional regulation. And I reminded myself that “made in God’s image, I can show up.”
That shift in perspective was huge. It allowed me to stay grounded, consistent, and connected to the deeper “why” of my work which is empowering Jesus-loving women to thrive in their identity and relationships.
Resilience, I’ve learned, isn’t just for seasons of crisis — it’s for the everyday moments when you choose to keep showing up, anchored in grace, trusting that your faithfulness is part of something bigger than yourself.
