We recently connected with Rene Uribe and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rene thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Soon after our daughter’s passing in 2019, my wife and I wanted to establish a non profit organization that would project our daughter’s character and ideals. We began the process by first submitting our application to receive status as a 501 (c)(3) organization to the IRS. That process involved several steps from establishing articles of incorporation to opening business accounts in the organizations name. The entire process took just about one year to complete.

Rene , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Our organization has focused on three basic principles: random acts of kindness, supporting art programs through scholarships for high school and college students and supporting a variety of animal rights organizations. In our short history as a non profit organization we have awarded $5000 in scholarships and have made donations to various organizations in the community in the realm of $3500. We support those efforts through sales of our daughter’s art and merchandise through our website and social media platforms.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is a great tool when establishing any brand and we are still learning the ins and outs of that particular area. One simple post can go viral in an instant and change the whole trajectory of your business or organization.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
We always keep our daughter Amanda as the main focus of our efforts in everything involving her foundation. We often think about how she would approach any challenge and problem as we navigate through growing her foundation’s presence. Amanda gives us the strength to persevere and overcome those obstacles.
