Alright, RENE thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?

I want people to remember me by my smile and flowers and that I loved making everybody happy and to succeed. I want people to also remember that she always stayed on her grind. Remember to love those who love you and don’t love you.

RENE, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I would like to introduce myself , my name is Rene Epps ( Floral Designer / Floral Instructor). I started in the floral by a good friends mom who is now deceased ( Karen Carter) who saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself . I always loved flowers and watching others arrange flowers but never knew the concept of making them but, with a lot of encouragement from a person that see something in me that I didn’t see in myself (Talent and Skills) I enrolled in the Community College of Baltimore County where I studied in the areas of Floral Designing. After completing college , I moved on to start my own business: Flowers by Rene. The journey was not easy because I first had to put myself out there to get notice to get the business and then I had to have a plan. After getting notice the business took off with a lot of happy customers but I didn’t stop there as. I kept growing and sharpening my skills and knowledge the opportunity presented it’s self to become a Floral Instructor. This was a dream come true because now I was able to teach other people one of the things I love to do which was floral designing. To see the looks on others faces when they have completed their first floral arrangement is priceless , and that’s the biggest joy to me is to make people happy. There’s nothing in this world that you can’t do or achieve if you are dedicated and put your mind to it. I’m living proof.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

The one thing that helped me in this business was my personality and proficiency. In the floral business you have to pay attention to detail and what the customers wants and likes. One little mistake can be costly to you, not to mention you my lose business . You have to have deliveries delivered on time .

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

When I started this journey I was a single mother , and I knew I wanted more but didn’t know if I could do what needed to be done to get there. I had to raise a child, work and go to school. I had to make sure my son was okay after getting off of work and then rush off to classes. I will not say it’s going to be easy but with a good support system around you , you can complete your goals that you set out to accomplish.
