Renay, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My mom played a vital role in shaping my values by emphasizing the importance of self-sufficiency. Her life experiences fueled her passion for empowering her children with the skills necessary to thrive. I have tremendous respect for her dedication. This upbringing ultimately inspired my sister and I to become first generation college graduates in our immediate family.

It takes a lot of discipline in life to stay on a narrow path, especially living in a city such as Los Angeles, CA, where you have access to everything. However, you receive the benefits of what you choose; it’s your choice. We have to make the right choices in life.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to learn was to be confident in every room I walk into and know I belong there.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Advice I have for anyone managing a team is that maintaining high morale involves being relatable, firm, respectful, and well-rounded. You shouldn’t go in with preconceptions; basically, give people a chance and an opportunity until they show you otherwise.
