Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Renauld Lucius Porter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Renauld Lucius , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Besides starting my business in the face of covid, I also found the courage to leave my job. At the time we had been operating out of our home, seldom a ghost kitchen, or work whatever space deemed good enough to cook in. Caterings both private and event sectors were picking up as well as operation days. The natural separation was clear and I made my move. It was the greatest because for once I knew I was moving out of love and not survival.
Renauld Lucius , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Always had food as my life companion, been in the kitchen on my own since 13 years old cooking for myself and younger siblings and relatives. For years I was the guy whose house you went to for good eats. I learned from my family and neighborhood friends how to put the love in food. I originally had a concept called “Shrimpin Ain’t Easy” that was great but I dissolved it because I thought of a name and concept with a universal approach. From there LeRoux’s Kitchen was birthed and fitting for our Southern Creole/Cajun dynamic. Our motto is “Translating Love Through Food” and to make sure people “Eat Like LeRoux”(eat like the king). We pride ourselves on impeccable customer service, family vibes and principals, food authentication and quality, and community outreach. Producing flavors that conversate with your taste buds to relay a message to your heart that lets you know the love is there. In essence we just want to put out food, services, and products that induce positivity in your life.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Originally starting out it was to be a joint venture with my friend and his barber shop. We were doing great until an established restaurant complained and shut us down because of a clause he had with the area that no other food entity could operate around there. It was frustrating but a resilience builder no less. We started operating from the house right after, and surprisingly sales rose quickly.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met her after a hip hop show on the sidewalk. We had became friends almost instantly. One day I was announcing on Facebook (in tacky fashion) that I was operating. She was the only one who messaged me telling me this needed to be done better while simultaneously sending my a flyer. From there it was evident that I had someone who can be an asset and I stand proud seeing that though was a fact.
