Hi Renata, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
Getting my first client wasn’t as easy as it seemed. Many other travel agents have support of their families and friends. Everyone I knew was booking their own travel and looking right over me. After that, I decided to share my business everywhere! I took to Instagram and a customer with a mutual friend reached out and booked a hotel room. I was happy but I didn’t get a large commission. But I was so happy to get my first sale!
Renata, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The name of my business is Dream Excursions Travel Agency. We specialize in Cruises, All-inclusive, Business, and Group travel. We provide an amazing and exhilarating travel experience for our adventurous travelers and relaxed, romantic travel ambiance for our lovebirds. Many clients don’t know where to go, what to do, or how to do it. That’s what we solve! Personally, I studied for hours getting countless certificates to have the knowledge and network to make your vacation an amazing one. I’m so proud that my company has help several families and couples build bonds and create memories through beautiful destinations and liberating activities. I want people to know that I create an experience that you may not have witnessed on your own!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the set up of working a 9am-5pm job. Being a business owner, you can make your own hours. But your job is never done! Clients constantly reach out, suppliers may have networking events, or you may be out and randomly start talking to a stranger which peaks someone’s interest. You won’t reach your goals working 9am-5pm. You have to be ready to put in work!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth and referrals has been the best source. I give some amazing gifts for booking so people tend to spread the word! Testimonials, reviews and seeing others book has won my friends and family over. Referrals and referral gifts are always the best source for new clients.
