Rena and Julia, the dynamic duo hailing from Staten Island, New York. These inspiring 50-something entrepreneurs are the proud creators and proprietors of the fashion sensation, Bandelettes. As immigrants who came to the United States, they started from the ground up, working tirelessly to support their families.
In 2012, they embarked on a transformative journey, envisioning a solution to the universal woe of chafing. Their brainchild, Bandelettes, emerged as a groundbreaking blend of practicality and style, offering comfort and fashion to women of all ages. They didn’t stop there; Rena and Julia secured patents and trademarks for their innovative creation, cementing their legacy as fashion trailblazers. From humble beginnings to global recognition, their story is a testament to hard work, determination, and a passion for empowering women through fashion.
How’d you meet your business partner?
Rena and Julia, both originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, crossed paths for the first time at a mutual friend’s party in 2005. Their chance meeting blossomed into a lasting friendship, uniting two souls with a shared love for fashion and the pursuit of their American dreams.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
Rena and Julia, finance professionals turned fashion trailblazers, embarked on their thrilling journey with “Bandelettes,” armed with no prior experience in the fashion realm. They embraced a steep learning curve, building their brand from scratch. Initially collaborating with manufacturers in China and Italy, they ensured the meticulous quality control and packaging of their product in USA before it reached stores. In 2017-18, they aimed to shift their entire production to the USA, but certain challenges led them to continue manufacturing in China and Italy for the time being. Their resilience and dedication continue to drive the success of Bandelettes, a testament to their indomitable spirit in the fashion world.
