Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Remington Fraser. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Remington, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Funny enough, I really enjoyed my career practicing law.
Which is why no one really believed me when I said I’m going to quit my secure, well-paying job practicing law to start a company in the niche (and fairly young and untested) market of online luxury consignment.
At the time, I was practicing corporate law – specializing in M&A and securities – at Buchalter law firm, working in their distinguished apparel practice group. Working in fashion and apparel was always my mission.
Through undergrad and law school, I worked sales at a high-end boutique and, in law school, I spearheaded Loyola Law School’s fashion law symposium and practiced in their fashion law clinic. In private practice, I had the opportunity to work with fashion apparel clients.
But, the fashion industry was changing. The climate was changing. And I thought, there’s got to be a better way. A more sustainable path.
So, I quit. With nothing in hand. It was really scary. Tears happened, more than once.
I invested all of my savings from practicing law to fund the company and it took me over a year and half, working around the clock, tirelessly, without pay, to build out the entire company. Everything. From our frontend website, to backend intake processes and proprietary technology. Not to mention the unique challenges poised by consignment. But, eventually, I got there!
We launched the beta site and then, suddenly, the world changed again. COVID hit. Several months after that, I found out I was pregnant. So, now I’m running a start-up, in a new market, with no help, in a global pandemic, pregnant. Great. Just great. (Like I said, lots of tears!)
But, you push through, you know? And luckily, we had an online mail-in option that people took advantage of while being locked at home and we doubled our inventory within months of the lockdown! Silver-lining, right?
And now, we’re off to the races! Within a year and half, we now have over 500 consignors, across 10 states with over 10,000 products in inventory!
So, long story short. . . risk is rewarded!

Remington, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Who are we? Hmmm, okay – have you ever looked in your closet and thought “Why did I buy this? I’m never going to wear it, but I spent so much money on it that I can’t just GIVE it away!!”
That’s us. THAT’S the solution we solve.
What do we do? We help folks cash-in on their closets by reselling it for them online.
Why do we do it? Because we care. We really truly give a shit. We care about you, and the environment, and our community, and we really want to help.
We live in this awesome win-win-win space. Consignors win, because they can cash-in on their closet. Customers win, because they get a great deal on high-quality designer products. And the world wins, because by extending the product lifecycle we prevent items from ending up in landfills, reduce demand on new production, and curb the fashion industry’s effect on climate change.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I guess I would say, reputation is based on service. So put the effort into excellent service and you’ll have an excellent reputation. That math seems to add up!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Ha! This goes hand-in-hand with your last question! Honestly, referrals. Build your reputation and business around something you really believe in and are passionate about. It’ll make you excellent at what you do and people will notice and respond to that.
