We recently connected with Remie Gasirabo and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Remie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
Growing up as a kid, I always felt like I could have any career I wanted if I put my mind to it. I never really struggled academically. My problem was I could not figure out how to sync my passions with a well paying job. On top of the distractions that come along with a heavily active social life.
I remember considering making broadcasting my major when applying for college but I went with accounting because it felt more financially promising at the time. In retrospect, I think if I was more aware of all of the positions and different industries a broadcasting degree could be applied to I would have saw that through but I don’t regret the path that has brought me here because I’ve had some invaluable lessons & life changing experiences.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a 33 year old Rwandese-American man and I currently own a commercial creative/recording studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan called Flyyr Population Creative Studios. We operate 24/7 and offer affordable hourly rates for audio production, photography, podcasting, events/meetings & more! We also offer a monthly subscription to active local artists in need of a professional workspace and access to top of the line equipment.
After working as a department manager for 5 years for a financial assistance company, I started my media brand “Flyyr Population” along with my first hip-hop podcast. Since then, I’ve help create and worked as a producer on a few other shows including a sports podcast, a hip-hop mini-series show, and currently a comedy-driven live stream talk show.
Flyyr Population is all about doing things the flyyr way. That doesn’t only apply to physical presentation but also your contribution to society and doing what you can to leave it better than how you found it.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Social media can really go a long way for an artist/creative. Sharing a post or even liking and commenting on an artist’s post could be the engagement or interaction they needed to push them to the next level. Word of mouth used to be the best marketing tool but I believe social media has superseded that position immensly. The best part is that it’s free!! A lot of times supporting an artist/creative requires some sort of financial obligation whether its a $20 ticket to their live performance show or maybe being one of the first buyers for a new painter. But with social media all it takes is a few taps and you’re back to your regularly scheduled programming.
So really, it costs $0.00 to show some love and support.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Flyyr Population’s mission is to promote awareness and self-consciousness. Life can be so tempting to run on autopilot at least 5 days out of the week but imagine if your 9-5 felt like your free time? Everyone has passion and purpose and theres a way to capitalize and monetize just about any and everything these days. So as soon as we complete establishing our monetary requirements, our first and main company goal will be to help others align their dreams with their income.
