We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Remi Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Remi , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with Remi TV when I realized my desire to create a show about topics I’m passionate about and things I wanted to explore. Additionally, I recognized that numerous business owners and solo entrepreneurs faced challenges in gaining exposure due to limited resources and funding. This led me to start Remi TV.
The project’s value became evident when I saw the genuine excitement on the faces of the individuals I interviewed as they spoke about their businesses or products. I was confident that Remi TV could make a positive impact because I understood that many people who share my background often lack opportunities for exposure.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
In 2018, I entered the entertainment industry as a correspondent for a television show in New York, where I conducted interviews with talented musicians and artists. Today, I offer a range of services, specializing in marketing and public relations to help individuals gain exposure. I also assist with the creation of Electronic Press Kits (EPKs) and bios.
What distinguishes me from others is that I am the first woman to own a black-owned television show in Rhode Island, offering integrated public relations services. I take immense pride in the milestones I’ve achieved thus far and remain dedicated to pursuing my future goals.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One valuable lesson I’ve learned is to not be discouraged by hearing “No” and to persevere regardless of the challenges. I believe it’s crucial to maintain consistency and unwavering self-belief, regardless of one’s background. There was a time when I became disheartened to the point of abandoning what I love, and that decision made me feel even more miserable, ultimately leading to unhappiness.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Remi TV initially began as a part-time endeavor in my life. During its inception, I was a college student, juggling a full course load of four classes while also holding down a job. Determined to grow the television show, I diligently saved up $10,000.
At the outset, I wasn’t aware of the potential for revenue generation through advertising and commercial space. However, when I discovered this opportunity, I decided to explore it further. This strategic shift proved to be a successful decision, ultimately propelling Remi TV into a more prosperous and sustainable venture.
