We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Relius Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Relius, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I’m excited to share the heart behind our mission at the Geaux D.R.E.A.M. Foundation. Our mission is all about engaging, educating, and empowering individuals through dynamic programming, workshops, and retreats. But what really drives us is the story behind it all.

My own journey was deeply influenced by some incredible educators who believed in me and supported me through my academic path. Their dedication and investment in my future had a huge impact on my life, and I wanted to honor that by giving back in a meaningful way. That’s why I started the Geaux D.R.E.A.M. Foundation—to help other students navigate the challenges of college life and make their dreams a reality.

We know firsthand how overwhelming the college application process and financial strain can be. That’s why we’re dedicated to providing scholarships and expert guidance to ease these burdens. Our mission is to create a supportive community that not only helps students with financial aid but also empowers them with the tools and confidence they need to succeed.

At our core, we’re about building strong connections, inspiring future leaders, and making a real difference in the community. We’re here to ensure that every student feels valued and supported as they work towards their goals. Through our programs and scholarships, we’re creating a legacy of opportunity and positive change.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I started my journey by helping individuals who sought assistance with college applications and scholarships. As a college administrator and active community member, I recognized the significant need for this support. What began as conversations with mentors and friends turned into a challenge to make a real difference. Encouraged by their support, I founded the Geaux D.R.E.A.M. Foundation to make my dream a reality.

We provide dynamic programs, workshops, and retreats to build strong communities and empower individuals. Our focus is on guiding high school students through the college application process and alleviating the financial burden of higher education through scholarships.

What sets us apart is our deep personal commitment to education and community support. Inspired by the educators who impacted my life, we strive to create a lasting impact by empowering the next generation of leaders. We are proud to foster a supportive community that encourages excellence and opportunity for all.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

I am currently in the process of securing funding to officially launch my business. I obtained my EIN a year ago, but balancing my PhD studies, raising my brother, and other life responsibilities delayed my progress. Over the past seven months, I have hired a website designer, videographer, photographer, marketing assistant, and built a board of directors. I aim for a major launch in October to bring my dream to reality. So far, I have self-funded all expenses, viewing it as an investment in the company’s success. Despite the challenges, I am excited to see where this journey takes me.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

My reputation in the market has been built through my active involvement in higher education and the community. People recognize my genuine commitment as I have consistently volunteered my time and efforts to help others. Over the years, I have provided guidance and support without seeking compensation, which has established trust and credibility. The foundation I created, which offers scholarships to ease the financial burden of college, is an extension of my long-standing dedication to making a positive impact.
