We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Reina Nelson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Reina below.
Alright, Reina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Our business and brand is named “Three Generations Made”. As our website states,
“ Three Generations Made is inspired by the passion, skill and creativity passed down through generations in our family; from grandma, mom to daughter. This shop is a representation of what we enjoy and love to do, together.”
I grew up learning how to sew, can/preserve and repurpose things from my mom and grandma. They have such creative brains and a creative talent. I notice I inherited many of their skill and desire to be creative.
If I want people to know one thing about our business, it’s that it’s inspired by my grandma, and what/how she taught my mom and how/what my mom taught me, from both the loving and creative perspective. I want to keep our love for creativity alive, always.

Reina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Three Generations Made presents a wide variety of craft – mostly what is reflecting our interests.
My mom has narrrowed her craft to sewing: she repurposed old wool sweaters and blankets into beautiful, warm mittens. She also repurposes old quilts and makes pillows with them. Additionally, she loves to crochet, and makes dish towels.
I have narrowed my craft to epoxy/resin work. I make coaster sets and cribbage boards using epoxy/resin and an assortment of hand pressed flowers, live edge wood, and some vintage china pieces. Additionally, I make silver coin rings and garden markers out of old spoons.
Something I am proud of is that our business reflects both of our talents and interested, many of which have been carried down generations.
I am also proud of our growing theme. We try hard to repurpose things into something more useful, giving it a new life and most times, an entirely different use/purpose. We think this is cool and sustainable, in a world that generates a lot of waste!
Something that I love is that my mom and I are always looking for the next project, how to improve or add to something and how to collaborate. Our newest focus for another addition to Three Generations Made, is to continue crocheting granny squares to make blankets and bags/purses!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Three Generations Made is small and “up and coming”. We have goals and high hopes to reach a larger audience. As many people who are starting a small business know, it is hard to find that audience.
I have taken the lead on posting on social media and trying to advertise and guide people to our website. We used to be on Etsy, and now we have our own website (that I worked veryyyyy hard on)! We have our own branding, too! All these things have been baby steps along the way, but so fun!
We notice that we sell the most at in-person craft markets. We continue to work to apply to larger scale markets, all while I continue to post online about how cool we are!

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
TikTok and Instagram reels have been an incredible resource for me as I am trying to grow our presence online and reach a larger audience. I often watch other creatives videos online and mimic what they do: they show a step by step process of their project and how it was created. I have learned that people (myself included!!!) love to watch the behind the scenes of cool art and projects! I am waiting for my big moment, just like the people I watch – to go viral!
