We recently connected with Reilly Day and have shared our conversation below.
Reilly, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I first picked up my first camera when I was eleven years old. At the time, I learned everything from trial and error. As my craft began to grow, I began watching YouTube videos and bringing my camera nearly everywhere with me.
If I had known what I know now in the beginning, I would have told my younger self to keep practicing. The more you get out there and practice with real people the more confident you become + the better your craft becomes.
In the photography industry, it is easy to feel as if you are just another photographer, there are numerous photographers everywhere you look. However, if you want to stick out in this industry, it is so important to have a heart full of passion + great communication skills. After all, each session is as if you are auditioning for your next gig!
Initially, the lack of education available to me was what limited me from learning more. Now, I have resources right at my finger tips!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those of you who do not know me, I am Reilly Day, a Nashville native. I am married to my incredible husband and we are blessed with our precious son, Declan. I officially launched O Happy Day Photography back in 2020. During the pandemic, I decided to dive deeper into my favorite hobby + see if I could make it into some passive income. Flash forward to 2021 I was able to go full time + have been serving wedding couples, seniors and families ever since!
My whole goal is to help my clients to pause these significant milestones in their lives with photos that they can have for generations to come.
I am really proud that I have been able to travel all across the US capturing love in some of the most beautiful locations imaginable! I am always so honored to get to work with my clients, but it is especially special when clients fly me out to come work with them.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love getting to uniquely capture someones love story. You could have any photographer capture it, yet it will never be captured the exact same way. To me, that is so special.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal in my work is to help others see themselves for how beautifully God uniquely created them. Everyone is so uniquely beautiful + it is my job to help show them that!
