We were lucky to catch up with Regine Jillea Dawson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Regine Jillea, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career

Being in the creative business, I believe that we are creative since birth. Parents and guardians should start encouraging their children’s creative skills very early on in life. I believe education is important, but not the one-sided systematic education that is in place today. There are some children that are born ready for certain things. And if not, it only takes instilling confidence in a child for them to find their niche.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Yes, my clothing label is called Hovsewife, and I’ve been in business for a little over a year and I’ve learned so much just by starting on my own. Having a start up is a privilege and I work at it everyday. I’m always thinking of new content ideas and new ways to engage consumers. I have started a new outlet, “The Miami Style Times”, that highlights a top of the week to keep the label in people’s faces. My major clothing label, Hovsewife, features tops and tees that provide sustainability with style and grace. I wanted to start off with sustainable pieces that consumers can wear over and over.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

Of course, the Bible, abundance is frequently mentioned in the Bible as something God offers to those who trust in Him. Abundance in this sense means a life full of everything you need to sustain yourself in joy and purpose. I believe that entrepreneurship is not just about making the most money, but making the most out of life. Your entrepreneurial journey should be a fulfilling one in every way. It should advance you, it should prune you, and it should give you the space to grow. Following the scriptures, it allows you to see that God wants to give you abundance if you seek first the kingdom of God. God is a creative Himself (the ultimate Creator) and He enjoys to see His own creations create.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I am still building my business on social media. I appreciate outlets like this one to highlight my business. I have been in tuned to how social media can change your life for a very long time. I was watching panels and informative videos on YouTube since before monetization. I saw how people built a platform and a personal brand before it mattered. I’ve had some hurdles to overcome to get to this point, but I’m not afraid to start from ground up. I would encourage the next person to just run their race. Don’t pay attention to what others are doing, believe in your vision.
