We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Reginald Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Reginald, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Being an entrepreneur has it’s pros and cons!
Reginald, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Often times, the term “Rocc Bottom” is seen as a negative or bad place to be. Over the years, God has shown us that we all need that time at Rocc Bottom. It is at Rocc Bottom that you learn your strengths, your weaknesses, who your true friends are, and most importantly, how to get God’s attention. Rocc Bottom, even though it’s not our final destination, it is a necessary destination in all of our lives. It is what you do at Rocc Bottom that will prepare you for your elevation.
It was at our “Rocc Bottom” that God gave us a vision. We had no idea that from one simple design and phrase, we would be reaching so many people, but God knew. Rocc Bottom is all about motivating others to realize that “Rocc Bottom” doesn’t last forever, it’s important what you do while you are there. If you learn the necessary lessons, there is nowhere to go but up.
This is our mission statement. So behind the mission comes not only a message but quality clothing with a meaning. The most fulfilling moments are when strangers and supporters share their stories of hitting Rock Bottom and how our ministry helped them press through.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn a failure’s mentality. Meaning just because you stumble doesn’t mean it’s over. Quick story” when we first starting printing shirts, we started with at least 200-300. We had an event where we could sell our merch. We ended up only selling 1 shirt. That was very discouraging and the only thing I could think about was how I failed and maybe this wasn’t a good idea. But I believed in not the clothing but the message. So that fueled me to stay persistent and til this day we,be sold over 100,000 pieces
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Relevance and Persistence! Today we live in a society where they want content, content and more content! The more they see you, the more they feel they know you. I engaged with my audience by providing a service and need. Each individual person has a unique ability to reach people. I firmly believe that if you want to know what your passion is” Ask yourself what do you love to do whether you get paid for it or not!?
