I would say the biggest risk that I’ve taken would have been last year 2021. I had gotten so fed up with my last job in healthcare. The management wasn’t very supportive and I had to put up with a lot of attitude from the providers. I just didn’t feel appreciated no matter what I brought to the team. So I decided that I would get back into real estate, which I had been trying to do since 2005. I think back then I wasn’t really focused and plus the market wasn’t like it is today.

True story: One day I sat at my desk, and I must have cried for 15-20 minutes straight, uncontrollably. I had to figure out a plan and I had to figure it out quickly. So I thought to myself “Regina you got this, you are strong…figure it out”. Then I said to myself “you know what Regina let’s give this real estate thing another shot”. So I started preparing myself, I enroll in a prep course at Champions School of Real Estate and I studied every day. I put so many hours into it, that it made my head spin. It’s a lot of information to retain, ESPECIALLY when it’s time to take the state exams.

After speaking with my husband, he told me to do what makes me happy. He will always support my decisions. So the following Friday, I turn in my resignation letter right then and there I took a leap of faith and I left my job in healthcare. Fast forward to today, I am currently a Houston Realtor and I work for Epique Realty. They are an awesome firm to work for. I’m so glad I made the right decision. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family, my friends and my colleagues.

This was a journey that I took a leap of faith in as well. Not knowing how it’d turn out, I just took a chance. Always bet on yourself, ya know? I can honestly say that I’m proud of myself no matter what choices I’ve made. Everything is in God’s timing.

I think the biggest advice that I would have for managing a team or to keep the morale high is to stay engaged with them. Listen to them, receive positive feedback, do nice things for them. Give them some kind of incentives, so that they will know they matter and most importantly always keep a positive attitude. Have great energy because we feed off of each other’s energy. It’s magnetic sometimes!

I think the biggest lesson that I’ve learned. I can attest to this and I think many of you can as well. You can’t expect everyone to have the same heart as you and that’s the realist thing I’ve ever heard. The reason I say this and without getting into too much detail is because I will give a person my last, and they still don’t seem appreciative of it.

I remember once, I had let a friend borrow some money. I can be such a sweet person because I like helping other people. I’ve never been one to talk about what I’ve done for anyone, but it just rubbed me the wrong way and I had to learn the hard way that you cannot help everybody. Needless to say, to this day three years later I still haven’t gotten my money back. Now the person is mad at me and it was my money that I loaned! Make it make sense?! *laughs* We all make mistakes, but I think we should use discernment when it comes to certain people and situation.
