We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Regina Craig . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Regina below.
Alright, Regina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The risk I took completely changed my life. In 2004 I was working loss prevention for Macy’s and I would do so with a full face of make up on, and the girls that worked at Mac Cosmetics would always ask me why I wasn’t doing make up. I was confident in doing make up on myself but didn’t have the skills to do it on anyone else so I never took the chance because I was afraid. Finally when I saw with the girls at Mac were paid compared to what I was I took that leap and put in my application, and got interviewed. I went through five interviews before I got the job knowing that I didn’t know how to do make up on others just a couple friends. I work with Mac up until 2018 learning all that I can constantly having people tell me that I should be working on my own. Throughout the years we saw the uprise of YouTube Makeup artistry, makeup artist doing tutorials ,lessons and everything they could to become independent. Still afraid to make the leap I continued working with the company until 2018 when I decided that I would take that leap and jump out on my own. And on my own meaning not getting a steady paycheck not working for anyone literally working for myself using your Instagram to gain clients. And I must say that it’s the best risk that I took because since then I have been immensely blessed

Regina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
It’s so funny because I have to be honest when people ask me this question. I didn’t get into make up because I loved make up lol. Yes my mother wore make up all the time, yes when I grew up and in high school I wore make up but I didn’t have a desire to do it professionally. It literally came because make up artist were making more money at the time that I was a single mother. I didn’t know that when I got to the counter that it was all God directing me to what would become my passion and what would start my journey. So I worked for Mac cosmetics for Almost 16 years with a small break working for Sephora for six months.. currently of course I am still Do I make up in my business caters to women of all kinds all ages all races all sexes all fields, birthday parties, Wedding, girls night out and I have been very blessed to be able to have touch some celebrities

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients honestly are referrals and Instagram. But I have learned customers and clients never forget how you treat them and they will always refer you. Word of mouth despite online being so important, Word of mouth is still the number one way I believe. I believe word of mouth is so important because even with Instagram if someone tells you or their friend that I’m a great make up artist they’re obviously going to go to my social media pages so it’s kind of like a two for one starting with word of mouth
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Honestly for me customer loyalty is so important and I am absolutely ecstatic and honored when a client will only come to me or always choose to. And for me it has been just treating my clients with respect ,integrity, honesty and understanding. when I’m interacting with my clients really listening to them talk about their life because there’s a make up artist you were also a counselor so when I hear a client talk about my their life And they tell me important dates I always remember to reach out to them on those dates and it’s amazing how you can make people feel just buy remembering small details
