We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Regina Baker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Regina below.
Regina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Cultivating relationships. As business owners we think we should sell, pitch, sell! The problem with this is people do not want to be sold to, they want to buy and in the end, they buy YOU.
Relationship building is an old, yet proven and profitable principle that most businesses ignore.
When we’re intentional, supportive, and serving, I’ve experienced great things, such as client acquisitions, collaborations, and amazing friendships.
Regina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the business of serving when I realized that is my primary passion. I have always believed in the power of networking and listening more than talking. I connected with people at offline networking events and grew my relationships with them by connecting with them through social media.
I commented on posts and offered my experience in administrative processes to the point where people really started the like, know, and trust factor.
In my primary business model, I work with professional speakers by implementing proven systems and processes (SOPs) for profitable results.
My second model is a business I created called Black Virtual Assistants. Black Virtual Assistants (BVA) is a community of (POC); black and brown people who have a strong passion to cultivate a space where ALL People of Color have the opportunity to be seen and hired.
Entrepreneurs, Corporations, and Small businesses have the opportunity to view our “hire board”, determine their needs, and schedule a discovery call with me to find out if we are a good fit for each other.
I want nothing more than the opportunity to qualify for grants and sponsorships to serve disadvantaged people of color with virtual as well as in-person training and workshops in order for them to start or increase their business skills in the areas of a service-based business.
My goal is to publish the 1st Magazine for Black Virtual Assistants. This magazine will feature people of color in areas of virtual assisting, creative entrepreneurs like web designers, strategists, marketing professionals, coaches, consultants, POC events for entrepreneurs, proven tips and resources,
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Mentorship and coaching are key to holding you accountable for your goals. I’ve had some amazing mentors, known and unknown since starting a business.
I love to read books on personal growth, business strategies, finance, discipline, and biblical principles.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
95% of my business has come by word of mouth. My clients constantly refer my services. Again, establishing relationships by participating in positive communities has worked as well.
