We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Reggie Wayne . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Reggie below.
Reggie, appreciate you joining us today. Growth is exciting, but from what we’ve seen across thousands of conversations with entrepreneurs it’s also dangerous if costs aren’t watched closely – sometimes costs can grow out of control outpacing revenue growth and putting the viability of the entire business at risk. How have you managed to keep costs under control?
Resourcefulness; one of my brand values. With my art I aim to have a big impact with using less. I believe that less is more, taking old and creating new, and recycling value. With inflation and price increases on canvases, I’ve learned how to create them myself or I thrift shop and find unique items to create with and on. This saves money but also gives my art exclusive character.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hello; I’m Reggie Wayne from Memphis, TN currently residing in Nashville Tennessee. I create curated & custom pieces for art lovers.
I’m a motivational visual artist that has a passion for sharing a creative perspective on past & current culture, world truths, and history. I use my gift to create art that inspires self reflection, affirmations, emotional expression, and healing. During my journey, art was therapeutic and helped me through some challenging times. Now I’m motivated to create visual messages that can touch people and encourage them to keep going.
My mission is to give motivational messages through art that help people heal from everyday struggles, uplift black culture, and
encourages people to change their negative habits, move with a purpose and be at peace.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
To be honest just doing the work and putting myself out there more. Business had started to get slow for me and knew I had to make some changes; and it all started with me just doing the work and putting more time into my craft and business.
“PUT YOURSELF ON” I wrote this quote on my wall in my studio as a reminder that if I wanted new clients and opportunities I had to do the work and then go get them myself.
One thing I’ve learned; is that people notice when you are working hard at your craft and they respect that. I started doing more local shows/events; posting daily on social and hosting my own art shows. This extra effort has opened many doors and provided a whole new wave of customers and opportunities.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
What an amazing feeling to have multiple streams of income; but for me I value my time more than anything. I was blessed that my art blew up fast and my side hustle quickly became my full time job. Once I saw that my job was taking all of my creative energy/time and it was starting to pour into into my art I decided to leave my job and become a full time artist.
