Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Reggie Owens. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Reggie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business is photography and videography. In my up bringing I was always the camera man. Every picture or memory my family have of our previous life came from me capturing it. So I knew that if I was to have a business, it would have to be something I love to do and can profit off of. I feel as though my business is very necessary and needed being as though alot of people are good with capturing the moment while living the moment as well. Not only am I capturing the moment, I am doing it at a professional state as well so you can relive that time period vividly.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Reggie Owens. I’m a photographer and videographer. My ultimate goal is to become a Director of Photography in the film industry.
I got into photography as a kid. Being the camera man of my family, I developed an eye for the craft. In high school I was doing music with my friends. All of a sudden we realized that we would eventually start needing videos. So I got a video camera & that is when my videography career started. I would record other kids in the school videos as well and that started to bring in money. Fast forwarding to after graduating high school, I went to pursue videography at the Art Institute of Atlanta. That led to me learning more about my camera knowledge and editing skills on the computer. Then real life hit and I put it down for 7 years to get into the work force to take care of my everyday needs. Then I started in Photography & started to develop the love I have for that. Now here we are 3 years later & my business is going decent.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
To fund my business took a lot of sacrifice. I had to miss out things that I wanted in order to get what I needed. I used the money I was making from my full time warehouse job that I had an I gradually bought equipment and invested in the merchandise that I needed.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think that my work it self built my reputation in the photography world. Also the way I treat and take care of my clients. I make sure they’re relatable and comfortable. The more comfortable and satisfied your client is with your work; the more they’ll want to work with you.
