We were lucky to catch up with Reggie Haynes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Reggie , thanks for joining us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?
Not showing proper representation in regards to the African(Black) Community. I make sure that our people are represented in the most respectable way while producing my content on the RHTV Network.
Reggie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I always wanted to be an entertainer when growing up but I was programmed by many to be a football player. I eventually stepped away from sports because it was too many ties to slavery to me so I stepped into the music and film industry. That was just as bad as football. I then decided that if I was going to be a part of any industry I would do it in a way to where I wasn’t going to sell my soul, so I started working independently. I started my own television show, The House of Reggie’s Tv Show and my own television network, The RHTV Network, where both mediums represent African Empowerment, Truth, and African Unity.
In my platform I present fair deals in terms of videography, editing, both in the London, UK area, and Pay Per View content distribution.
We tackle the problem of negative representation of African people around the globe and show our people in an empowering way while presenting reasonable and productive business in our community through the forms of media.
I am most proud of the support from my family in Texas, my Wife, and the African community who has supported the Rhtelevisions.com website 100%.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that “we as a people are slaves to inhumane system”.
Growing up I saw that most people learn how to slave themselves to a point of no return and I don’t want to live that life. So I chose to live a life of “doing for self” in a dignified way while maintaining a happy and healthy lifestyle. Hopefully this can spread to others within the African Community because we deserve the best.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding my business started off as me saving my money over the years to purchase equipment to produce my own content and pay for a consistent web host. As time went on, many people who supported me became consistent funders and then I realised that the “sacrifices” that I made were well worth it.
