Reggie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Being a risk taker in life is something I became accustomed to at an early age. Starting Elite Gamerz definitely would be considered the biggest risk I have taken in my entire life. I was ready for whatever came with it. You can’t be scared to fail. I feel like if you’re not going to be all in on your goals, you should leave them where they are, in your mind, or on a piece of paper. Everybody is not going to agree with your plan in life, which I was fully aware of initially. After doing my research on the Gaming industry during the Pandemic, I was determined to pull this thought out of my mind and make it come to life. You know how some things are just made for you? Some things are so clear that a blind person could see it? Well, that’ how I felt about creating Elite Gamerz. I stayed up all night at times just to manifest this great idea from scratch. I have a total of 4 Vision Boards that are centered wholly around Elite Gamerz. I have outlines and notebooks with written content and information on Elite Gamerz. One thing I understand is that one has to have good structure. Without the structure of discipline, nothing will work. You will not succeed.
Individuals that know me personally know how much of a hard worker I am. They also know how unpredictable I am at all times. If I say I am going to do something, I promise I am all in with it! If one wants to be successful, he has to be ready for everything that comes with it. Imagine after putting everything together on paper and vision boards, having to wait an entire year to a year and a half for your plan to be executed. That was another roadblock I had to deal with but my patience wasn’t bothering me. Never did I realize what I was creating would be a billion dollar idea. I took this risk because it’s a game changer and a good chapter in my life. It’s never too late to change the narrative of your life.
I have been grinding my whole life. It’s no such thing as luck. No shortcuts…just the long route. Always remember you have to be prepared! I get a thrill out of taking risks. It brings out a different side of me. You’re either in the game or on the bleachers. Choose wisely. I have never heard a successful person say that they succeeded without taking any risk. Everyday you wake up, you have a choice. Either take a chance or stay wondering what your life could have been like if you took that risk.

For those who aren’t familiar with me, I am the owner of Elite Gamerz, a platform that let’s gamers socialize, unite, and showcase their talent by competing in H2H friendly wagering matches and tournaments for prizes. I got into the gaming industry when I was a kid so it came naturally. It was very easy for me to transition into taking a bigger stage. Plus, it’s something I enjoy in life and gaming is always fun to do! Self discipline is something you cannot teach. Self discipline is something you will definitely need along the way to succeed in life. What I am most proud of is how resilient, versatile and innovative I have been my entire life, never following the crowd.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Taking coding classes for a month in hopes of creating the Elite Gamerz website on my own definitely showed my resilience. I quickly realized it would take too long to develop as a beginner and was forced to find a developer. It took me an entire month. I feel like most people would have given up and threw in the towel. I talked to literally 70-80 different web developers and majority of them could not understand the full concept of what I was trying to build… even with all of the outlines and blueprints of the Elite Gamerz platform. I thought it would be easy for them but I was turned down plenty of times as the concept was too complex and difficult. Still today, I am thankful for the honesty of the developers I spoke with. It’s hard to imagine what would have happened had I hired a developer that was dishonest about his/her capabilities in order to gain financially. I stayed searching and kept going until I finally found someone. Initially, he didn’t understand the idea fully but I was able to guide him. Everything worked out perfectly in the end. My patience and resilience was definitely key. I stayed on top of it until it was all figured out.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media takes time. First, you have to find your niche. My niche was gaming. Once you find your area, the best advice I can give is plan everything out. Write it down. One of my 4 Vision Boards consisted of my social media scheme. You have to attack any area by constantly posting and reaching out to Influencers with a nice amount of followers. Pay the Influencers for the promo that will bring traffic your way. Also, you should definitely make reels and run ads on your business. I watched a ton of videos on YouTube. I promise they will guide you in the right direction. Also, another cheat code to building an audience is networking in person by going to local stores and passing out flyers. Public places and events like the mall are great places to network as well. The last thing I will leave you guys with has been the most important for me… BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. Relationships are more important than money. The right person can put you in the right opportunity, introducing you to new people that can play a huge part in your success. I have a wall of famous people that I admire. My wall keeps me motivated. Nothing comes easy in life. You must grind. No shortcuts. Stay down.
