We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Reese De Luca. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Reese below.
Reese, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I created this brand for real reasons. First up, love for killer skincare and the cleanest ingredients out there. Second, it’s all about empowering fellow “weirdos” to vibe self-love, no matter the noise.
Being different? That’s the beauty!
Growing up, I got teased for being different ’cause I was doing me – basically, a legit weirdo! But this brand? My way of flipping that script, owning the word, and just being my true self with zero judgements.
We want to encourage others to embrace themselves and to celebrate your own unique beauty.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been working fashion and product development for over 25 years and launched skincare for weirdos on Dec 31, 2023.
The first product we launched was a pimple patch because we wanted to test the market before launching fully and I was personally a fan of pimple patches and how they let you show off your personality.
I knew that I wanted to do things differently and come at it from a different angle and make them super effective. Most people don’t realize that the major of pimple patches on the market have 0 active ingredients. So while they DO cover up the pimple and stop you from picking it, they don’t do anything extra to help your skin recover or heal.
The concept behind the brand is “effective skincare for peculiar people” and the first product hits all the marks!
We’ve been also developing and testing a full skincare range that will hit the market for Fall 2024 and will continue to give a alternative space for people who want effective products but don’t follow todays “normal” beauty standards. Who wants to be normal anyways?

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As someone working in the fashion industry for over 25 years, I had my own clothing brand for much of that time. Unfortunately, due to competing with fast fashion brands like SHEIN and HM, it became really difficult for an indie brand to stock a full collection in multiple different sizes and colors. Not to mention the fact that customers automatically thought that product from the previous season should be 70% off. It was no longer sustainable and I didn’t want to add to the mounds of clothing waste out there.
I had to take the tough decision to close my clothing brand after 10+ years of existence and really think about what I wanted to do going forward.
I am really passionate about skincare and that’s why after months of deliberating, I decided to go all in on creating my own brand

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Money money money!
I am proudly self-funded, solo run and bootstrapped.
I was able to take some funds I received from selling the balance of my clothing brand inventory (around $5000) and use it to launch my new brand.
I still also work a full time job so I set aside certain funds from each pay check to help me to continue to develop and market my brand.
