Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Reed LoRenzo Shannon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Reed LoRenzo, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I was about 2 years old, so I’m told, my parents needed something to do with me and all my energy so they put on Whose Line is It Anyway and apparently I was infatuated with the larger than life talent that is Wayne Brady. I think that was the beginning.
Around that same time, they had me in tap dance classes because my sister was taking jazz or ballet. Since then I found myself in dance classes which eventually turned into musical theatre which has become a career in acting on camera and in voiceover.
I’m currently rediscovering my absolute love and obsession for the craft of acting. Every single day I’m realizing something new about the human condition and the nuances of our lives that can be conveyed through art.
For a few years lately, I haven’t been able to record music in the studio which is something that has always come naturally to me. There was a realization or mortality point that I got to because I was/am so young with such a resumé. I’ve realized that I have a beautiful opportunity to create and execute to completion and then change my voicing and do it all over again. It’s a freeing thought but it keeps me in an ever evolving mode of discovery. It feels like I’m discovering my passion for the first time again

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I honestly believe if we as a society, placed value where value is do, we might just unify in an impactful way.
We need to pay and hold our educators at extremely high esteem first and foremost.
Once we do that we’ll be able to understand the sensitive spirit/soul that is the artist or creative.
It seems as though generations of people have clung to the structures of this world that prove to be flawed time and time again. Maybe we can foster environments where we raise children to be completely empathetic and givers in the world. We can clean up the streets and introduce love as a grand idea in terms of one another.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding for me hands down is the moment when I’m in the middle of working on a song or a scene and I catch a wave of confidence in whatever I’m doing.
I love the roller coaster feeling of being anxious to be present and be everything that I promised I could be and then seeing it pay off and getting that second wind.
