Alright, Redcoat thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Starting a business is never easy, in fact it can be one of the scariest things a person would ever do. It requires a lot of thought, preparation, planning, and an immense amount of drive to just get off the ground. My business partner and I were living in Atlanta, GA when we had the idea to start our own Company, Sound Valley Studios, in the Phoenix AZ area. Moving across the entire country, opening in a brand new market, & trying to build our brand from scratch, all while leaving one of the most highly regarded and established music metroplexes in the entire world, was a challenge we were open to and excited for. We have had a lot of bumps along the road, there are a lot of things that no one ever tells you about when starting a business, and certainly we have faced unforeseen obstacles that have been thrown our way, but we couldn’t be happier with the decision to take that leap of faith, and just, GO for it. Too many people in today’s world are worried about the “What ifs”, the fear of the unknown, the anxiety of taking those risks, and I get it, life is not easy. But almost everything, worth something in this life, tastes sweeter when that risk, turns into reward.

Have you ever had to pivot?
As we started our music studio in what is widely considered to be a brand new, fairly untapped market, we realized finding customers and converting them to paying clients was not as easy as anticipated. We had to spend a lot of advertising and marketing dollars to get our name out there, and underestimated how quickly this would turn. I would encourage business owners to spend as much time on their marketing plans as possible PRE launch, to ensure you don’t run into stagnant issues. We learned we had to pivot to offer several different types of products and services, which allowed us to target a wider range of clients and audiences.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is one of those aspects that is key to a business’ success, especially in 2022. We hired a Client Relations Executive who happens to also be my sister, and she is in charge of developing, growing, and interacting with our online social media following and fanbase. My biggest advice is, find someone who has the TIME to do it. Social media is a time suck, but it is very important. We have gotten a lot of customers off our social channels, so the spend to have someone dedicated to that aspect of our business has a high end ROI.
