Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rebekah Roanhorse. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rebekah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
My friend had shared a remedy about garlic Mullien for an ear infection. I went to the natural health store called Wildly Natural to purchase the dried herb and left with so much knowledge on how to approach an illness. I, then kept going back for so many other herbs and supplements for many other things. They had a part time open years later, so with the knowledge I gained of the products I was taking for 1-2 years, the store manager at the time hired me! I had 3 kids at the time so part time was perfect and I knew this would benefit our family years later after working under the Naturopathic Doctor. It turned out to be the first door I’d open to natural healing and I am beyond thankful!

Rebekah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is a Rebekah Roanhorse. I am Red Bottom clan, born for Bigwater clan. I am a blessed mom and wife, family is a huge part of my business. I had just finished my certificate of a Holistic Health Practitioner, then Covid broke out. I was very devastated about the news of how it hit my home on the reservation. I first came up with the remedies Immune Booster and Dikos (cough medicine) as loose teas then decided to make it into a tincture to help preserve it better. When the word got out from friends and family, I started making more than usual. I decided to open my own business by first knowing my passion then establishing a name. After I started learning how much effort and cost it actually took to keep the online store running. The more customers, the more materials. The time and discipline to maintaining orders and meeting deadlines. It’s fun getting to know these details! I now provide helpful information for my community on how to support your health emotionally, physically and mentally. And provide over 15 products of herbal tinctures, salves and loose herbal tea. My heart is of the health of community and my future generation behind me coming up. It’s not a marathon, it’s a walk for me, and I love walks, taking the first step towards healing matters.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I believe having a clear passion and understanding what that is, will help you when you have setbacks in your journey. Remembering what it is all about, because that will keep you going!

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Sometimes I wish I could go back sooner and learn a whole lot more from the doctor I worked for. He was a book of knowledge but with his age, he was only so limited to sharing what he knew. I do believe I came at the time I needed too tho. Especially since having 3 kids already and wanting to do it different with them.
