We were lucky to catch up with Rebecca Torres recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rebecca, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
I still remember my first time earning money for my creative work. I was freshly postpartum… 3 days to be exact. I had just given birth to my 3rd boy and Del Taco’s marketing team had sent me an email. It all started with a simple email. I had been posting fun content on my social media for a while, and my following had grown steadily. They had noticed my content and thought I would be a great fit for their new campaign. I couldn’t believe it! Del Taco, a brand I had enjoyed for years, wanted to collaborate with me. It was a mix of excitement, disbelief, and a sense of accomplishment.
The campaign was centered around their new Beyond Meat Plant-Based menu items, and they wanted me to create a post highlighting these dishes. I was thrilled but also a bit nervous. This was my first paid collaboration, and I wanted to make sure I did a great job.
I spent the next few days planning my content. I brainstormed creative ideas and when the day of the shoot arrived, I picked up the new menu items from my local Del Taco and got to work. I photographed, and edited everything meticulously.
After submitting my content for approval, I waited anxiously for their feedback. To my relief, they loved it! They praised my creativity and the way I showcased their new items. A few days later, the payment came through, and seeing that deposit in my account felt incredible. It was a tangible reward for my hard work and a validation of my efforts as an influencer.
This first collaboration with Del Taco was a significant milestone in my influencer journey. It taught me a lot about working with brands, meeting expectations, and the importance of authentic engagement with my audience. Most importantly, it gave me the confidence to pursue more collaborations and continue growing my online presence.

Rebecca, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In 2020, I embarked on a journey to share my experiences as a mother with the world. Motherhood is a profound and beautiful journey, and I wanted to connect with other moms who were going through similar experiences. I chose Instagram as my platform, focusing on the niche of motherhood, specifically sharing insights and stories about being a boy mom.As I shared my daily adventures, challenges, and joys of raising my boys, I began to build a community. My followers, whom I affectionately call my “besties,” grew alongside me. We connected over the shared experiences of sleepless nights, toddler tantrums, and the sweet moments that make it all worthwhile.
In 2024, my journey took a beautiful turn when I welcomed my first and only daughter into the world. My content naturally evolved to include my experiences with her, and my community continued to grow. Reaching the milestone of 20,000 followers was a moment of immense pride and gratitude for me. These “besties” became a crucial part of my support system, and we navigated the highs and lows of motherhood together.
Engagement is at the heart of my Instagram presence. I love connecting with my audience through daily reels and stories, sharing both the mundane and extraordinary moments of motherhood. Whether it’s a quick tip for dealing with a picky eater or a heartfelt story about a parenting struggle, I cherish these interactions and the bonds they create.
To anyone aspiring to become an influencer, my advice is simple: don’t give up and JUST START. Everyone has something unique to share with the world, and there’s a community out there waiting to connect with your story. Embrace your journey, share your truth, and watch how it resonates with others.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The connection that we get to other people in the world! It is so beautiful to be able to connect with others through motherhood and remember we are not alone.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I knew about light room & photoshop for photos and CapCut for videos.
