Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rebecca Tarabocchia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rebecca, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I always wanted to be an actor and when I took my first acting class I realized that I was right! I was meant to do this. I took my first acting class when I was 25 years old. I’ve had the privilege of ending up in small acting groups where we all become very close and have built a strong trust which has lead the teachers to feel comfortable pushing us further. I am all about listening and learning by doing. I always had a hard time focusing and listening in class during my school years, but in acting class, I am fully committed. Everything I know about the craft I have learned from great teachers and fellow actors. I wish that I had taken the step into the acting world earlier in my life, but at the same time, I believe that I am right where I am supposed to be. As a bit of a rebel, back in the days, I gained a lot of life experience in a very short time that I am very grateful to have today, as I have a lot in my backpack to use and explore in my craft. I think the most essential skill is fearlessness and the only thing that stood in my way earlier, was myself.

Rebecca, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Rebecca Tarabocchia, and I’m a small town girl from Sweden, now based in Los Angeles. I took my first acting class back in early 2018, in Sweden. A couple of months later, I quit my job, sold everything I owned, canceled my lease and hugged my family and friends goodbye, to go and chase my dreams. I went to acting school in Los Angeles, and it was the best decision and investment I have ever made. I got my first acting gig in 2019, and today I am a three-time award-winning actress. I have always been a hard worker, but to work hard for something that you love, isn’t that hard. I’m excited about waking up in the morning to go to work and to meet other creatives. I plan to stick around.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of my work and my craft, is that it very often makes me feel fulfilled as a person. I am the tool and I get to use myself and whatever I have into my craft. I learn something new and interesting every day and I get to meet inspiring people. Art really keeps me on my toes. It’s never boring.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
It is much much harder than I thought. I didn’t understand what acting was when I started. I just knew that I liked it. It was not until I tried the Meisner technique that I understood. Meisner really took me to the deep reality of acting. I love improv, and it is still one of my favorite and most useful techniques, but Meisner opened up doors to a much deeper and more personal level that I have found to be very useful in my craft, even if it can get painful.
